Default Jamo speakers any good, good price?

Been eyeing speakers for a few months in order to go with a new receiver I plan on buying. Onkyo 705 or the new Pioneer.

I don't know much about speakers and such but found what looks to have been a good deal for good speakers at Compusa (going out of business 25% off). A complete 7.1 speaker system for 793 dollars. From internet prices it looks like this could cost around 1-2 grand i think.

Anyone know if these speakers are any good and if I got them for good prices? I searched the internet and it looks like I got good deals on them. Of course they sound better than the Aiwa home theater in the box speakers I have that are 6-7 years old. They also sound way better even hooked up the the Aiwa shelf system until I replace that with a good receiver.

3 pairs (6 total) of Jamo floor standing speakers (E 660, 100 watt to 140 max watt) @ 165.00 for each pair. 1 pair was the display model, the other 2 pairs are boxed.

1 Jamo center speaker (E6CEN.5, 80 watt to 110 watt) @ 90.00, Display model

1 Jamo subwoofer (A3Sub.3, 100 watt) @ 150.00, Display model

Default Jamo???

I would put the Jamo Speakers for build quality in the same category of Nuance and Fluance Speakers.

they are just not built correctly in my opinion.

I would say if the price is right for you then go for it. I would couldn't agree or disagree with the build quality for these models in particular, but I purchased my 707's 7 years ago from a hi-end dealer and they're still going strong and the build quality is fine. They have good detail, great midrange, but require alot of power (mine that is). Again, if you like the sound and the price get them. You should try to find any reviews on them as well. Here's mine.

Default Jamo speakers

Hi,
I don't consider myself an expert on speaker evaluation. I am using a pair of Jamo 3-way towers - 4 drivers - (sorry, its 6o am and I'm not near my system and don't recall the model) which I purchased without any research. I was in the right place at the right time. These were dealer demos and are now abt 4 yrs old. My best description of them is that they seem transparent with no coloration of the music. I am treating them as "large" in my system and I've not heard any bass distortion. The bass and lower mid has a very "tight" sound which I like. I'm not sorry I purchased them-- would I buy Jamo again. I don't know.

I really wonder how much sound difference there can possible be from various mfgrs who build speakers that look very nearly identical? How many "secrets" are left in construction or materials? How many actual driver mfgrs are there? All questions to ponder...

Robert

Just what do you find "incorrect" about the Jamo speaker "build."

Jamo is a bramd of medium-quality speakers bought by Klipsch (as are several others).
In my opinion Klipsch gives more "bang for the buck" than most other brands.
Having said that, I wonder how much real difference there is between major brands of similar size/price speakers?
Are there any really bad speakers made by SPEAKER companies?
Go for the Jamos ... you have a unique opportunity to get some good speakers at a bargain price.

I have the 2 front ones hooked up to my old aiwa dolby digital 5.1 shelf system and i already hear quite a bit more quality sound that I did not hear before. My odl speakers did not seem to reproduce the same sound quality as these new ones do. Will be hooking up the new onkyo 705 this weekend when my wires get in. I have a feeling this will just blow away the old speakers I have. So far I am satisfied with the deal I got and the speakers seem to be very good so far.

The Klipsch look nice. Have not heard any but they always get good review. I just can't justify the the cost of the speakers.
