Thinking about getting these speakers from monoprice. Are they any good?

I don't know anything about monoprice speakers, but I do enjoy their cables. And for the price of those speakers, I'd at least buy them, test them out, and then listen to other speakers at local stores to compare, as you have 21 days to return the Monoprices if you aren't satisfied.

They'll do just fine. Not audiophile quality, but it'll definately sound more than just satisfactory.

In this case, bigger=better.

Parts Express has a much better selection of regular and in-wall speakers.

The parts express seem pretty nice too. What do I do for a center channel since they come in pairs?

theres really a few options for your center...

1. run a pair of speakers as your center

2. run an out-of-wall center speaker

3. TV as center

4. buy a pair and just use one, keep the other as a spare

5. 6.1 system

Well I kinda wanna do a 7.1 setup so I guess the tv as a center would be my best option. How do you do this and is it provide quality sound?

specific setup would be a bit out of my league as i have yet to do much of it... but thats really your worst option as it will only provide the same quality of sound as the TV does now... and i could be wrong but i think the receiver has to support the function

personally I would buy a pair and keep one as a backup (but the same ones you want for your fronts or rears so if something happens to one you just throw a new one in)

the speakers are relatively inexpensive and it will give you good, matching sound all around

Well I have a 5.1 setup now with some old jbl speakers and a relativley new sony reciever(no hdmi). But I mounted my tv and want a cleaner look with the in walls. So I was gonna try and get a onkyo 605 for tru hd and dts ma with my ps3 and hd dvd player and the new speakers. Also have to get a subwoofer since I dont have one. Still trying to pick stuff out.

Get a pair of them and keep the other one as an extra. As for a subwoofer, I can get you a selection of the best bang for your buck subwoofers out there. You can PM me if you'd like.

3. TV as center

I would do everything possible to avoid this..... it'd sound terrible, because the T.V. would be playing ALL the audio (like normal) over the top of the rest of the speakers you get....

there is a way to run it on just the center channel... i think it might depend on the TV though... but it will sound pretty bad regardless

If the OP's TV has an audio input, it might be possible for him to hook up his receiver's center channel output to the TV, and get just the center signal. But yeah, the results would be less than ideal.
