I've had a Pioneer Elite Kuro PRO-151FD since around 2009-10 and it's been great. I think one of the reasons as to why I haven't had any problems with it is I've had it hooked up to a SurgeX surge protector which are industrial grade and there are no mov's in them to fail.

I wonder how many plasma's or flatscreen's in general suffer electrical problems due to not having a surge protector or being hooked up to a faulty surge protector that uses mov's like the one's sold at Best Buy, Staples, Walmart?

Is there any value in a dead panel?
I have a pro-101fd that died about 4 years ago that I have hung on to. I thought that one day I might have tried to bring it back to life but at this point, it's not really worth it to me as a secondary TV. I am clearing out some things from the home and this is one of the things that may end up on the front lawn to be taken out with the trash. If I can get $100+ for it though I could put that towards a new tv.
It's got the red blinking light of death. 2-blinks repeated when I power it on.
Any thoughts regarding this would be appreciated.
Thanks

My 2008 PRO-101FD is still working fine. If you want to repair it you might be able to find the spare parts on Pioneers website or contact a Pioneer authorized dealer to have the flat panel repaired.

The HEVC codec with its high bit rates peaking above 100Mbps for some movie scenes, appears to produce a 5-10% better picture quality on the 1080P Pioneer plasmas when compared to standard 1080P Blu-ray discs that have lower video bit rates.
I bought an Oppo UDP-203 on e year ago, and Dolby Vision UHDs look fantastic, but HDR10 discs have weird purple artifacting (purple fringing).
I thought it was going to die last year, as the PQ seemed off (weak black levels), but after doing a factory reset, it was all well again. An absolutely amazing piece of equipment.
I think I will buy an LG C9 65inch this year though, as I simply want a bigger screen.
