how do you upload a picture

didn't want to start a new thread, but had a question about pictures. if i want to use an image as my avatar, is getting an image from google images allowed? are those considered "fair use"? might seem silly, but wanted to be sure.

I use Photobucket but I am sure Imageshack is the same. Just Copy the [IMG] tag & Paste it into your post like this

I can upload it as an attachment but I was wondering how to upload it straight to the site so everyone can view it.

I upload my pics to photobucket then copy and paste the link using the insert image button

You do know if you copy & paste the IMG code from Photobucket directly into the post without doing anything else will work as well.

This is what I do & you don't even need the insert image button

If I'm understanding you right, you are missing one more step in the process for everyone to see the pic instead of seeing the link.

Once you upload it as an attachment, you have to go back to that same button at the top, but this time, click the little arrow next to the paper clip, another box will come up.

click the link and it will be shown where you put the cursor

If you get an account at an Image Hosting Site such as Photobucket, You can copy & paste the [IMG] tag right into your post. Photobucket accounts are free to have & that is what I use.
