Default Old Miramax titles now Lionsgate

Just realized that movies like "Adventureland" and "Kill Bill" are Lionsgate now and have been re-released a day ago. I already own these movies but when I follow the link, I can only buy them again. They're still in my library, even with Lionsgate as distributor , but I guess, they are listed as different versions and I won't get an upgrade, when they go 4k one day. My "Kill Bill"-version doesn't have extras, the new one has. That is something, I really hate about going digital...

Ohh I hear you!! I invested a lot in moving to a digital library but with all the changes in distributors etc new versions keep popping up in iTunes.

Question is how long will it be before they remove the old versions completely and they will be removed from my Library and have to buy them again???

Started going back to physical media cause at least you have it and it won’t disappear.

Annoying as currently over 1,500 movies bought in iTunes and about 30 have been re-released

Grrrrr!

They never remove them. The Paramount Marvel films I still have in my library.

if you mean in itunes, they are still in your library, just have to scroll through instead of searching, searching will just bring up the newly licensed one.

What they're getting at is the version in their library probably isn't going to get upgraded to 4K if/when that time comes.

This is the thing that would really annoy me. The main reason I buy regular HD versions at sale prices is in the hope that they'll get the 4k upgrade at some point. Otherwise I'd wait for the upgrade first and *then* a sale price

I'm not as bothered about extras disappearing really, because the physical versions I have on blu probably have all the extras anyway.

Is this just overseas? Both of my Miramax copies of Kill Bill still have extras in the US.

Thou on other forums there have been cases of films disappearing from your library.

Yes, ones I bought are still there but I’m sure ITunes are not going to keep multiple copies of the same movies on the server. Eventually the ones originally under Miramax will go and the ones added for Lionsgate will be only available option. Hence have to repurchase.

Apple terms and conditions do cover this and basically nothing you can do.

This kind of thing is exactly why I have no interest in going digital only.

Except it doesn't actually disappear. Every single copy from a previous distributor is still in my library. I still have all of the 'Starz' releases that switched to Lionsgate (and those Paramount Marvel releases). They don't go anywhere.

I'm in Ireland and I went to check Kill Bill

Both movie are gone from the store but my iCloud library says they are StudioCanal.

Yeah, there’s been PLENTY of movies that have switched studios and none of them are ever deleted from your library. I haven’t lost a single movie on iTunes. I may have to scroll for them in my library but they are still there and playable.

People get too worked up over stuff that doesn’t happen.

Paramount purchased a 49% stake in Miramax films, and will take over distribution for Miramax.

VUDU now lists your Miramax films as Paramount. I'm not sure why Apple has Lionsgate listed.

It's still weird that the new listings were added, but with the wrong studio.

I was sure all my Tarantino's had extras. Now it is only Pulp Fiction. None are Miramax in the Irish Store but I thought they all were released by them

All of my Taratino movies still have their extras. Except for Inglourious, which has never had extras.

I agree with Gonzo about the loss of potential 4K upgrades, but that is a secondary issue. My initial point stands that this is absolutely not a case of a provider taking something out of my library.

Also, maybe it is just me, but I assume all discussions are around the US store. If it is different across the pond, a vast majority of us wouldn’t have any clue. Best to clarify that you aren’t talking about the US store.

I did clarify the store in question and I also ask people to specify the store they are discussing.

Most people outside the US do, but there is a mix of nationalities here so people in the US also need to specify. The internet has no borders

Can you tell me which of your Tarantino's changed distributor lately?

Is Inglorious Basterds the only one that did not have extras?

No problem. Just adds a layer of confusion since it can be different per store.

Looks like the only one the store shows me as owning is Reservoir Dogs. So I’d say all of the rest changed. My copies do still have extras.

IB is the only one that did not have extras, and never did. I am assuming I will be rebuying it when Universal releases the 4K disc anyway. Though Universal never adds extras to catalog titles, so we are stuck. I don’t think there were any new extras added by Lionsgate.
