Since apps are on the TV that causes us to use ARC, and I was having issues with eARC. I didn't realize my HDMI cable was crap, because it worked for everything else.

That is just one of the demos on the app, but I don't think atmos is actually played from youtube. It looks pretty good on PC/phone screen, but simply amazing on the TV.
So you use an actual Dolby app you downloaded? Not a Dolby demo thru the YouTube app? I'll check the app store, but I don't think they have a Dolby app.

I don't use it but I've read arc/earc can be glitchy.

Thanks. Just getting old and falling apart. I do foresee some fermented beverages and VH tunes in my future tonight as I pay tribute to Eddie Van Halen. RIP. 🙏

Correct, because the youtube isn't actually demos.

When you use the dolby app, your TV will display that you are using 'Dolby Vision' & 'Dolby Atmos' the same way as if you're playing a 4k..... You will see the colors POP on when starting a demo, and the colors drop to normal when the demo is done.

If you don't have eARC setup, you won't get Atmos to your AVR from the TV.

This guy demonstrate getting the app and shows a few functions. Start at about 50 secs

For visual, I like:
Cacti
Infinite now
Chameleon
Hummingbird

The Jurassic world audio is cool as heck

It's been a long time since you've had any forum action. A picture posting refresher is probably needed. FWIW, your support picture is showing. Baby steps.

I don’t use the internal apps.

You don't need both hands to check, one hand for your drink and the other for the remote.

You're like both Todd and Margo wrapped into one. I'll type slow so you can keep up. I don't use the internal apps of my tv. No idea what it has and doesn't have. I don't even have it connected to my network. So to answer your question; I don't know, Margo.

So, you have this badass Master TV, but only using portions of its capabilities. You losing out man, simpy losing out!

BTW,

I gotten the replacement HDMI cable today, but I'm a little nervous because you said the eARC is "glitchy".

Having to look for reasonable priced 30ft HDMI cable isn't all that easy. I suppose since they are fiber is the reason to be so expensive.

No desire to use the internal apps. Wish they made a "dumb" tv with none of that stupid OS and apps crap. Just a kick ass picture. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Dude, Monoprice. Certified premium HDMI cable. 30'. $35.99. Better hurry. Your tv is talking to you toaster. You don't have much longer.

Bro!!! Pay attention to specs.

That cable is only HDMI 2.0(if that) @ 18Gbps and doesn't seem to have support for eARC.

I needed HDMI 2.1 for the 40Gbps with eARC support.

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=38626

I am a little concerned that the length might be JUST right or maybe a little under.... lol

The next length up is 40ft @ $240.99.

But,

eARC is working fine, and I just experienced Atmos vs DTS:X and clear winner Atmos. At least with Dolby demo it was... lol

Now I need to actually run the damn cable.

I think I know how you feel about the internal apps. Since LG has the Magic remote with the onscreen pointer, it makes for using the apps much more likeable.

What? Lol. It has nothing to do with a "magic" remote or onscreen pointer. *sigh* Where's the ibuprofen?

I know I know, ole Wabo has the Apple TV, 4k firestick and whatever other streaming devices plugged into your AVR. No need for internal apps..

For me using the Magic remote has made using any of the apps that much better. I now get frustrated using my other TV's, because they don't have a pointer.

Wait, so what are you going to do when it's time to update the firmware on your tv?

This old man had to take a break in the middle of re-running HDMI cables.

I looked up the Dolby access demo.

Dolby Access app

You can also find additional demo content from us, as well as our partners, in the Dolby Access app, available on Xbox One systems, Windows 10 PCs, and 2017+ model year LG OLED and SUHD TVs.

Give me your wifi code and I'll help you put it in the TV...
