That was another title bought by Paramount, you own the old miramax version. You will have to buy again if you want the current version.

I don't really know what the deal is with the whole bloody affair, but Dogma's issues are different and pretty public.

I'm so confused by the title of this thread and the conversation within the thread that followed.
Is it titles labeled Miramax that are outdated? Or Lionsgate? The thread title makes it sound like Miramax would be the old copies, but the conversation within the thread make it sound like Lionsgate would be the old copies. I own Kill Bill 1 and 2 and I'm trying to figure out which copies I have. |

Can't really go by what studio is listed on the itunes store as it's not always updated or totally correct. Go to the itunes store, if it shows you own KB, you have the current lionsgate versions. If it asks you to buy them, look in your library for the old de-listed ones (miramax) |

If it’s asking you to buy but you have it in your library then it’s the now de-listed Lionsgate version. |

When Paramount bought out a stake in Miramax they took over distribution of the Miramax library and as such all the previously purchased versions had the studio name relabelled to Lionsgate as that’s who that particular purchase license is held with. All current titles that are labelled with Miramax are under Paramounts distribution. |

Prisoners are allowed to own things!
In this case because of the controversy around Dogma Harvey personally bought the rights, so it was owned by him and not Miramax. All the distribution deals have lapsed so nobody has the right to release it anywhere in the world. Kevin Smith has talked about how he thinks Harvey should do the right thing and sign it over, because nobody wants to do a deal with him so he’s not going to get any money anyway. For now if anyone wanted to licence it for release they’d be dealing with and paying Harvey directly so it’s not going to happen. Entirely possible we won’t see it again until he dies and the rights get passed to someone that it feels less toxic to deal with. |
