Default The Travel/Holiday/Vacation thread.

Any plans for a holiday/vacation in the near future ? Or have you been anywhere memorable either for all the right or wrong reasons ?!

Where's your favourite holiday destination really.

We're pretty boring this year, we're taking the kids to Chicago for their birthdays to visit the American Girl Doll museum.....never thought I'd be doing crap like that, but when you have a 5 and 3 year old daughter, I guess you have too....=(

I'm taking the family (5 of us) on a cruise over Christmas this year, down to Belize, Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel. I would have preferred simply flying to an island in the Caribbean (Turks and Caicos would be my pick) and renting a house on the beach for a week, but I was overruled!

I'm going to Arizona for 5 days in March and 5 days in April. My parents have a house down there that I stay at. I went down there twice last year at around the same times as this year and will do many of the same things, a Cubs spring training game (likely versus the Mariners) in March and in April I will go to the Diamondbacks home opener versus the Giants. I'll probably play some golf as well and maybe tour the Arizona Cardinals stadium.

We went to Beaches T&C about two years ago. It was the nicest looking beach and ocean water I've ever seen, and the resort was fantastic. We've also done a few cruises and they're tons of fun as well, if you're on the right ship/itinerary for your taste.

Just got back from NYC about a month ago, and we've got a trip planned to Vegas this July. Going with the wife a few friends. We did our honeymoon there, and have been wanting to go back.

Wife and I are strongly considering going to Toronto for a week in June for our anniversary. If not there, probably Savannah, Georgia.

1. MLB games (Exit off of the Gardiner Expressway at Spadina and head North for a couple of minutes to the ballpark).

2. Hockey Hall of Fame (just East of the ballpark-about a 15-20 min. walk. It's at the corner of Yonge & Front).

3. Museums (downtown, North of the ballpark)

4. A Great Zoo (Northeast end of the city)

5. Great restaurants everywhere in the city.

6. Theatre district (plays and stuff).

7. Rock n Roll Concerts (at The Molson Amphitheatre down on Lake Ontario-AWESOME venue).

This concludes your very brief tourist information session. Feel free to ask any questions. I'm your guide F-N5...have a Great day.

Seeing a Jays game for me would be a MUST, perhaps two. (I'm a huge Blue Jays fan)

Flying home to Germany in June / July for 3 weeks to see my parents and other family members.
Then to Ukraine for the Euro Cup with some friends in June.

Planning to go to Comic Con right after, if I can get tickets and reasonably priced hotel (last year was insanely expensive!).

Would like to see some more places in California since I just moved out here about 2 years ago and didn't have a chance to really go explore.
So probably some mini trips throughout the year.

Going to London & Paris in a few weeks. I've been to London about 5 years ago, but France is new.

Last year I was in Australia - Sydney & Melbourne. That was pretty awesome, saw the penguins and did a bus tour of the Great Ocean Road. Sydney felt like SoCal and Melbourne had a SF feel to me.

I'd like to see Hong Kong next year and/or go back to Sydney as I only had 2 days there and didn't get to the Blue Mountains because of the fires.

Trip Advisor is good for planning initial itineraries and general reviews. I just got into the whole smart phone thing 2 years ago. Google Maps is pretty handy, but I still like having paper maps/transit maps as backup and to scribble things on. Less likely to be stolen/broken too.

Not unique but pretty cool in my book, I ended up at 2 TV network headquarters on my last two trips. 30 Rock in NYC (I did pay to get to the Top - view is awesome especially at sunset and love the art deco design) and A(ustralian)BC in Sydney - nothing really exciting about that building but they had some Doctor Who props in the lobby.

Best thing I've ever done was a backside/track tour of Churchill Downs and seeing the Kentucky Derby - Lil E Tee won that year. Saw the top 2 trainers and peeked at entrants as they walked back to their stall. This probably means nothing to any of you as horse racing is not popular, but I love horses so that was a dream come true during my college years.

Paris is beautiful,I loved it there,we just happened to go to Sacre Coeur on the Sunday evening and there were loads of people sitting on the steps, some sipping on wine and a guy playing guitar while others were joining in singing which was great and to top it all off it was turning to dusk and to sit there and see all the lights come on all over Paris was great.

My last trip was in Iceland. And I absolutely LOVED it ! It's so beautiful over there, and the people are so nice. I intend on going back one day.
