You guys feel like hiking?

I bet I would be traveling anywhere anytime soon, so I decided to do a series of local outing videos. The first in the series is this hiking trip at a local reservoir called the Shing Mun Reservoir. Tell me what you think and enjoy.

Did you know the Chichibu Night Festival (秩父夜祭) is one of the 3 most important floats featuring festivals in Japan? Though I had the worst gear when I shot it 5 years ago today, hope you still enjoy this video I edited using newly rediscovered footage.

Saw your post in the other thread and I haven't been on one but I'd love to go on one just like you're looking for. I did click on your link earlier but dumb wifi didn't allow it to pop up so I'll have to give it another try. I could only imagine that you are going to have an awesome time if you go!

We're only in the research phase, but thanks so much. Yeah, their website is weird, it doesn't seem to open on my PC, but no problems at all on my phone. Anyway, the videos make it seem super cool, so we need to try and find some reviews, figure out pricing, etc.

Try a different browser or maybe the one you are using is outdated perhaps?

I was fortunate enough to take three solo trips this year: two weeks in Ireland in May/June, two weeks in Italy in September, and a long weekend in Denver for a concert in October. Ireland was kind of a spontaneous decision (and I was just bored of having to stay home due to the pandemic) and Italy was a reschedule of my original trip in March 2020 (just as the pandemic hit). I'd studied abroad in Germany in 2013 and this was my first time back to Europe since then. Loved every single second of it and I think it did wonders for my confidence, though I did know some people there (via Instagram actually) so neither were exactly solo trips but I'm counting it. I'm hoping to visit Paris in the spring, as there's a direct flight from Cincinnati, but I haven't made my mind up yet about that. I've definitely caught the travel bug though.

Speaking of Paris, I now live near London (an hour away), and am thinking about taking a weekend trip to Paris by Euro Star. Any places you guys recommend in or around Paris?

So, plane ticket prices randomly decreased about $300 on Tuesday so I booked them, haha. Very excited to spend about two weeks in Paris and northern France. I'll try to visit the following places but we shall see once I actually start planning: Paris, Lille, Giverny, Rouen, Cherbourg, Mont Saint-Michel, Saint-Malo, and Rennes.

As far as Paris goes, many of my friends have recommended (besides the usual attractions) Musée de l'Orangerie, the Tuileries, Shakespeare & Co., the Marais and Montparnasse districts, and the catacombs. I'm sure there's a lot more to see as well. I'm looking at maybe 5 days in Paris before continuing on, which I've been told is an adequate amount of time.

The wifey and I are trying to plan a trip somewhere in the US for like four days, any suggestions? Cold weather is fine so we were thinking Big Sky, Montana as I wanna save Jackson Hole for a longer trip.

I've only been on two vacation trips in my life. The first was to a Bible camp in Oklahoma when I was 15, and the second was to a Superman street fair in Metropolis, IL, in 2009. Overall, I enjoyed both experiences, but the weather at the street fair was so hot I was drinking bottled water almost as quick as I was sweating it off. I did get some good pictures, though.

I haven't posted my vacations here for a few years.

In 2019, I finally was able to get to Europe.

We did Ireland in the Spring and then an Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris trip in November. We added Disneyland Paris to the end of the Paris portion.

Then obviously Covid happened and ruined our 2020. We had our Northern Ireland vacation ruined. They called and cancelled our trip the day we were to leave. We did a small vacation in July to Cape May, NJ and then to visit my family in November in Florida.

2021 we stayed in the United States but we did Nashville & Memphis.

Last year, finally back to Europe. Scotland last summer and Iceland in November.

COVID ruined lots of fun and vacation opportunities.

Anyway, fast forward to 2023, and I just did a quick 3 days 2 nights road trip to Manchester. It turned out to be quite nice. The weather was great, sort of warm and sunny most of the time which is a slight surprise. I think the biggest surprise was how nice the roads are compared to London's. The motorway gets smoother and quieter soon after we drove past Birmingham leading into Manchester. And, believe it or not, there were barely any potholes in or around the town centre area.

Anyway, the highlight of the trip has to be the National Trust Dunham Massey, an English country house with a formal garden and a deer park. Watching the deer feeding or lazying on the grass on a warm sunny spring day just feels peaceful and relaxing.
