Default Untitled Quentin Tarantino Comedy Western

Quote:
Tarantino’s also got other projects on the horizon. They include a film criticism book and possibly a TV series, as Tarantino told talk show host Fabio Fazio, of Italian state broadcaster RAI, on Sunday, before adding: “But first I want to make a comedy.”

Comedy seems to be on Tarantino’s mind. During an onstage conversation with Rome fest chief Antonio Monda, he described an unspecified project that sounded very funny.

“It’s not like my next movie. It’s a piece of something else that I’m thinking about doing — and I’m not going to describe what it is,” Tarantino said. “But part of this thing, there is supposed to be a Spaghetti Western in it.”

“I’m looking forward to shooting that [thing] because it’s going to be really fun. Because I want to shoot it in the Spaghetti Western style where everybody’s speaking a different language,” he went on, before breaking into laughter.

“The Mexican Bandido is an Italian; the hero is an American; the bad sheriff is a German; the Mexican saloon girl is Israeli. And everybody is speaking a different language. And you [the actors] just know: OK, when he’s finished talking then I can talk,” Tarantino laughed again.

It'll be interesting to see what happens. A lot of potential projects have been discussed, from a Trek movie, a KB3, ending early with OUATIH, and this.

I hope he'd still direct some episodes of the Bounty Law series we were supposedly going to get at some point.

He enjoys the Western theme, even though these days it's a tough sell in theaters most times, along with the medieval/fantasy genre.

Didn't Family Guy's Seth Macfarlane try a Western Comedy? I saw it on video, but wasn't a big fan of it.

I feel like most of Tarantino's movies are comedies. That's not a knock on him either. But you can't watch some of the outrageous things that are in his movies and not just laugh at them.

I can think of a few scenes that were really funny in a few of his films. So he's sort of already covered his goal.

Didn't he already do a comedy western with The Hateful Eight? The joke being that it was in 70mm and he stuck them all in one room for over two hours?

The Bond people should beg him to come back and do the Bond movie he wanted to do. A good detour for the series so they don't have to jump right into a continuing reboot.

https://www.slashfilm.com/573645/tarantino-bond/

"He was pounding the table, saying you're the best James Bond, I wanna do James Bond, and it was very close quarters in the restaurant and I thought, please calm down, but we don't tell Quentin Tarantino to calm down." Brosnan said, adding: "He wanted to do James Bond, and I went back to the shop and told them but it wasn't mean to be. No Quentin Tarantino for James Bond."

"After Pulp Fiction, I tried to get the rights to Casino Royale away from the Broccolis, but that didn't happen," Tarantino said. "That wouldn't have been just throwing my hat in the franchise ring; that would have been subversion on a massive level, if I could have subverted Bond."

Tarantino wanted to make a Casino Royale set in the 1950s or '60s, with Brosnan back as Bond, and Uma Thurman as Vesper Lynd – the role that Eva Green would eventually play in Martin Campbell's Casino Royale.

Tarantino loves talking about what he'd do with a franchise. Looking forward to that Star Trek movie...

Tarantino fans are relentlessly duped into thinking there are several Tarantino projects happening. Oh, there's going to be a star wars film. Oh, there's going to be this other film.

But I agree. I will believe it when I see it. At this point, Tarantino has floated literally a hundred different fantasy projects as spit bubbles which his fans have eaten up and blown up to be entire universes.

Not really. QT has a creative mind and is always kicking around ideas. His fans understand that and know that eventually he'll decide on one project, and none of these others ones will happen.

This thread title is very misleading, he's not doing a comedy western - he says his next project will have an element of it that will be a comedic spaghetti western, but that he won't talk about what that project is.

So maybe more like a scene within the movie where some characters that are actors act out a western, or characters dream they're in a western, something like that.

No, he doesn't say that's his next project. Even in the text above, he says it's NOT his next movie.

Thumbs down

A cheap gag about dubbing is not something to hang a movie on.

Sounds like he's going down the road of over-indulging with too many overt references to old movies, as hampered his last film Once Upon.
