TT has often been bumped to the back of the line due to their small volume batches. It used to happen with Cinram occasionally for individual releases though only once I can remember it seems for the whole set of releases. |

I, too, believe that it is a "manufacturing" problem. There's been a lot of talk about plants closing and it seems right now there are multiple distributors all apologizing for delays.

I still haven't figured out what pixote is talking about other than from earlier posts he seemed confused about how TT and SAE divide up and store their portion of the contracted titles. Last edited by hariseldon; 10-20-2018 at 12:51 AM. |

With the TT sale, I ordered a lot from TT / SAE. This was one of the Blu-rays I ordered, and the first to arrive from SAE, so it's my very first TT watch.
In browsing TT's entire catalog to choose which films I might be interested in, I frequently came across titles that this site had no screenshots of, or review. (I've often lamented that this site doesn't have any apparent way to easily submit screenshots. I'd submit so many!) This movie was one of them. Luckily this thread is shorter than many so it's not as bad as some - I only skimmed it briefly - so I decided to write a quick review to add as a user review: Glad to have seen in 3D despite low PQ I purchased this Blu-ray mainly for the 3D experience, as I don't normally watch Westerns. The chase format to the story was interesting enough for me to give it a watch, as well as the romance aspect with the beautiful Donna Reed as the leading lady, who is a feisty rather than passive prisoner and is given plenty of screen time, comparable to the hero and the villain. I haven't previously viewed any older 3D films, so I went in with low expectations, and as a result I wasn't too disappointed. The video and 3D quality is generally at its best in close-ups and can be quite good, but the picture quality is consistently lower, to the point of being quite poor, throughout the rest of the film. I found the opening titles impossible to watch as the 3D seems off, but the included post-titles chapter break comes too late to easily skip them. Night scenes (presumably "day for night") are particularly flat and dark. Grain is often present but it's soft with the rest of the image and never fine, while some sequences are heavily scrubbed of grain. Edge haloing is painful in some shots. On a positive note, no major blemishes such as scratches were observed. The encode has an average bitrate (listed as 25 Mbps in this site's specs), which is adequate given the apparent limitations of the source material or transfer. The audio was adequate with clear dialogue and without any problems. Somewhat lengthy dialogue by characters in Spanish is not subtitled and is apparently not meant to be understood. I didn't encounter the sync issue that some have reported, but I diagnosed it. There is apparently an overlapping frame at 0:42:02, causing an audio skew of 3.208ms. I don't expect or need many extras on a release such as this, so the minimal extras aren't a disappointment, just a fact. TT's standard inclusion of an isolated music track is welcome here as the score is enjoyable. The original theatrical trailer is another welcome inclusion (all too often Blu-rays don't include this, and I always miss it when it's not included). The trailer is graded brighter than the film, which may be a harsher appearance but could have been better for 3D, especially the night scenes. If you can look past the frequently low picture quality and just enjoy the story and the 3D and the fact that this was released in the first place, you should have an enjoyable experience watching this 1953 Western. |

![]() I'm looking forward to expanding my library in this area and already have some further vintage 3D titles on order, so this was a good one to start with, as it can now only get better from here! ![]() |

so, I really enjoy vintage 3d movies. I have purchased most releases. I was on a brief spending hiatus when this movie was released (I also missed out on Sangaree). Unfortunately, I cannot find Sangaree anywhere to purchase. I am really bummed about that. I have been watching for a month and nothing. However, Gun Fury is available on ebay for $70 + shipping. I have read mixed reviews on the PQ. Do you think it is worth purchasing at that price point?
ps and if anyone is willing to sell Sangaree, I would pay $100. And I am open to negotiation. Last edited by moviefiend; 01-19-2022 at 04:26 PM. |

If there’s any brick and mortar stores that carry used 3D Blu-rays, check there. A few months ago I found a used copy of Sangaree at Amoeba Hollywood for just $25. They didn’t know what they had!
