I came to this forum to see if anyone else was having issues with the X700. I had the freezing issues with the new Godfather 4k's (both 1 and 2 gavè me problems). I bought mine from 220-electronics, so I might have to give them a call and see if I can switch models.

And I think that’s probably across the board with ANY 4K UHD players. It’s one of the reasons why I have seriously considering going back to BluRay. I’m mostly digital now anyway but I have enough of a collection that I do enjoy the occasional playing a disc once or twice a week.

I have the LG-UBK90 and it’s the most random player now. In the beginning, worked like a charm. In the last 3 months…yikes. It’ll play 4K discs just fine until around the 2 hour mark. Eject the disc. Inject the disc. It picks up where it leaves off and it plays fine. And yet, every single BluRay I’ve thrown at it over the last year and a half…no issue. None.

By the way, this is my third 4K UHD player. The first two had the same issues and others. I had the Sony X700 twice. That thing never played anything right. The first I had was one of the Philips 4K UHD players. It was mostly fine other than it was so damn slow. But, it was first generation. But, it also started to freeze as well.

I don’t want to give up on the format but if something is done fast, I may have to.

As an aside, I miss the days of the original PlayStation 3 Slim. To this day, it’s the best BluRay/Disc player I ever owned. I threw the kitchen sink at that thing and it never wavered. Not once. Give me a 4K UHD player like that and I’ll buy everything on disc.

Most people don't have problems with their UHD Blu-ray machines. Also, the original PlayStation 3 was packed with features, and each new PS3 that came out had less features compared to the previous.

I haven't attempt to watch Venom LTBC because of that, and afraid when the new Scream arrives as it's only the 4K disc without a standard one.
If the discs are clean the laser is likely wearing out, you can repair it but at the normal cost of repairs and how cheap the machine is, you might want to consider getting another new one and get a full year warranty. How old is yours?

Over a year old, disc is clean and not damaged, so the issue must be something else. I just watched Venom 2 with no issues.

I've had an X-700 for a few years and I've never had freezing issues. The only somewhat annoying thing that happens with my player is that on some UHD discs there is an obnoxiously loud humming sound when the disc loads, on the main menu, and for a few minutes at the start of movies I play. But then it stops and it becomes pretty quiet. Other than that, it's been perfectly fine.

The only skipping I have experienced (to date) was with a 1917 4K disc, but I tried that elsewhere and it must have been defective. Was sent a replacement disc and it works just fine.

Haven't heard anyone else have problems with the UHD Blu-ray of 1917.
