Maybe for you, but I have gone through the Halloween, Goodfellas, and several of my digibooks multiple times.

This has to be the 9th or 10th re-release since DVDs started...

I will be sticking with my Complete set with Skyfall...though the digital copies wouldn't be bad....

I've already got standalone copies of all but like 4 that went OOP, but i knew these would be repackaged and out for the release of Spectre.

they're from the excellent opening credit sequences from the films. Casino Royale looks great.

I admit some are nice, but most of the time they just discuss information most film buffs already know. but I'm sure there are exceptions. I am sure once the set drops some can discuss how nice the book will be.

Just surprised the packaging looks so blah.

i like digibooks too, but don't really expect them to cram much info in them. I prefer them to have pages of artwork like theatrical posters or neat photos instead really.

For Your Eyes Only is probably the weakest of the lot, but I agree with you. I think if you're going with the minimalist approach, using the art cues for the opening sequences is a great idea. I'll take that over a cover jammed with explosions, guns and photoshopped faces any day of the week. These IMO, are much more interesting than previous Bond SB offerings in the past.

I like the look of that ultimate set more than the book style one I have. It also comes with a real book, which is cool. Not double-dipping for it obviously, but it looks nice.

I would buy the Pierce Brosnan collection if his movies are remastered, but the chances of that are roughly nil I imagine.

How do you like the $300 price tag?

I thought the book looked good too, though not for this price point unless it is layered in real gold...lol

I bought my Bond set for $89...

That's MSRP, I am sure it will be around half that on release, maybe less. Still not worth replacing my set for though, obviously. Unless all the movies are newly remastered, which is about as likely as my wife bringing home another woman for me.

Bond 50 set started out at $299 too. This will drop considerably in price over the next year

I would still rather get the Bond 50 set instead of the "ultimate" collection just because we'll probably see another ultimate set everytime they make another film. At least the 50 set just sticks to collecting the first 50 years instead of just packaging all the films that had been released at that time. Maybe I'll find a good deal from someone selling their set to upgrade to the new one.

This is gonna happen every time a new Bond film is released. No point in *****ing about it. I'm torn because Bond 50 is conceptually complete, it'll always be a complete set of the first 50 years of the franchise whereas this new set will be rendered incomplete as soon as Craig's 5th film is released, but on the other hand it is an undeniable upgrade packaging-wise and that's coming from someone who doesn't freak out over packaging with cardboard sleeves.

I thought these had all just been remastered in 4k. That's what these releases should be but I suspect they're just the existing ones repackaged. As you can see, the German one touts some new extras but they seem to be "available online", which is pretty sneaky.

from 007.com - As fans prepare for the November 6th release of SPECTRE, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM) and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release an all-new line-up of special edition Blu-rays, DVDs and box-sets on September 15th.

Two never-before-seen featurettes are included with interviews from Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. “The Shadow of SPECTRE” will recount the fictional history of the global criminal syndicate and terrorist organization, “The Story So Far” will provide an overview of Daniel Craig’s first three Bond movies.

Six films featuring the SPECTRE organization (FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, THUNDERBALL, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY) and the three recent Daniel Craig titles (CASINO ROYALE, QUANTUM OF SOLACE, SKYFALL) will each get a limited edition Blu-ray Steelbook release, their cover designs inspired by each film’s opening title sequence.

Or Bond fans can choose from Actor Packs on Blu-ray and DVD, with newly-designed packaging.

Finally, The Ultimate James Bond Collection will feature all 23 Bond films to date, together in a Blu-ray box-set. The package includes a 24th space for SPECTRE and, for the first time, digital copies of the collection will be included, (UK & US only).

Also included in The Ultimate James Bond Collection is a new bonus disc with the full 90-minute documentary “Everything or Nothing,” further bonus materials, and a pocket-sized book featuring the best posters from DR. NO to SPECTRE.

Overall, I'm happy with the 2012 set except for a few nagging issues.

I really would like to see the US cut of Thunderball get a HD release. I really miss the closing credit music Barry composed for the US cut.

The entire On Her Majesty's Secret Service 5.1 track needs a redo. Put back the original gunshots and raise the music on that Gumbolt safe sequence as it was originally intended. At the very least, offer lossless mono of the original track.

They still haven't gotten Goldeneye right. That needs a new HD scan.

Only around half of them in 4k, the others in 2k through License to Kill. They used older techniques though with some frozen grain and DNR and whatnot, so many would like to see them done again, though I doubt it happens for a damn long time.

Also Goldeneye through Die Another Day were never remastered, and really need it at this point.

I think you're talking about the Lowry restorations for the blu-rays. I mean that they've supposedly been remastered again, just this year for eventual UHD release. There have been some screenings in the UK recently.

edit: Checking up, there seems to be a lot of confusion about this, with nobody very sure if they're different or not. Here's a news item:

Vue cinemas in the UK have selected what they deem to be the 'Best of Bond' for a series of 007 double features this summer in stunning new 4K digital prints from Sony.

14th June
Dr. No + Goldfinger

21st June
Live & Let Die+The Spy Who Loved Me

28th June
Living Daylights + Licence to Kill

4th July & 5th July
Goldeneye + The World is Not Enough

11th July & 12th July
Casino Royale + Skyfall

And there was a screening of a restored GOLDFINGER in Berlin earlier this year. But then I also heard that SKYFALL was shot in 2k, making a 4k scan pointless.

In any case, the only sure thing is that these are just the existing discs.
