This is, if you compare them to the literary Bond.
How did I miss Brosnan? Ok, here's my updated list...

1. Craig
2. Dalton
3. Connery
4. Brosnan
5. Lazenby

He wasn't the perfect Bond but anyone who has Connery at the bottom or near the bottom of their list should have a quiet word with themselves.

Hard to say. Dalton is definitely #1, but Connery, Lazenby and Craig are so close they could go in any order. So Connery is at worst 4th out of 6, so bottom half.

To be honest, if he stopped after Thunderball, he'd probably be the best, but I'm not going to just up and forget he did a medicore and a pretty shitty film afterwards.

You Only Live Twice is awesome. I don't care what anyone says.

Rating the films is very tough. Some of the films I gave **** to could easily sit alongside the ones I gave *****. A couple of the *** are borderline ****. I've always found it difficult to rate Bond and my opinions tend to change <*> each time I see them. I used to really like OHMSS, for example, but the last couple of times I've watched it, it's struck me as very problematic -- though NOT bad by any means. ** is perhaps harsh. I wouldn't give any Bond film a lowly * (not even Never Say Never Again , though it comes damn close).

IMO a phoned-in Bond performance from Connery was still effortlessly decent in some respects.

AFAIK, You Only Live Twice is the only one where he wasn't really trying.

I just miss the good action sequences. The Brosnan films had HUGE elaborate action sequences every 10 minutes or so and now we get nothing at all impressive in terms of action

Meh. He's a great Bond, of course, but I find his portrayal fairly two-dimensional and I prefer Bond when he's a bit more vulnerable and human. Hence why Lazenby and Dalton are my top two.

Not to mention the fact that Connery's shit in You Only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever and the god-awful Never Say Never Again.

Yeah I agree, yet - and this might be controversial - but Connery on YOLT form is as good as Moore on his best day.

I feel bad hearing extreme negativity to particular Bond actors and Bond movies when they all had something to offer as entertainment. My least favorite Bonds are Lazenby and Dalton but they are still entertaining and a joy to watch to see their interpretations. The movies too all defined their time periods - 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. They are all entertaining, even the poorest ones. I only think QOS is the worst Bond film mainly because its content is ruined by lousy headache-inducing direction. Had the camera been still or shot normally as all other 24 James Bond films, maybe I would have enjoyed the experience more.

Moore was terrible that's why. He had some great ones (Spy, Golden Gun, Eyes Only) but he was always blah to me. Just my personal opinion but I never bought him as Bond as much as the others. Still have seen each of his movies a dozen times but that's besides the point. And why is everyone so down on Live Twice. It's great. Ludicrous. But great.

I just re-watched all of his. I just don't get into them as much. I don't know if its his portrayal or the movies themselves, but outside of Spy Who Loved Me, I just can't get into them as much as the others.

At first I thought you were using a lot of words that the language filter picked up.
