I have been regularly checking in with JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman's and spoken to numerous AV retailers... no one seems to know anything in regards to whether or not a locally released 4k UHD blu-ray player will be released sooner or later. Nothing on the AU Panny, Sony or Samsung sites either... Does anybody know if there are any plans to release a 4K UHD Blu-Ray player for the Australian market?

hey mate , there was a article last year saying we should be getting the samsung player in the first week of may , if you type in 4K uhd players into google it will come up i think it was digital trends.
Also if you check the jb hifi website now they do have a page for 4K uhd blurays 13 titles are listed so far two of which are set for release this friday being kingsmen and xmen days of future past. so hopefully if the titles come out this week it points to the player not being to far off. hope this was of some help kind regards barney. |

The Samsung is up for pre-order here:
http://www.rio.com.au/product/samsun...r-limted-stock The Australian site in link above is reporting late May, however, since their pre-order went up last week, there has been a couple of other reports that the date has been brought forward, one stating roughly Mid May (around the 18th), and the other the 9th of May. Nothing on the Panasonic yet, though I have seen it mentioned that the ETA for New Zealand is approximately the 18th of July. |

Thanks for starting this thread. I've been searching the usual Aus retailers for a few weeks and have not seen anything in terms of when/ if the players are coming. With some of the UHD announcements that have been coming up, I can't wait to dip my toes in...although, the $699 asking price hurts a little.
- Correction - I see that rio are selling pre-orders for $495. I can swallow that a bit easier. |

I've ordered the sammy from rio. lets see when that comes. I wish the panasonic was being released in au and they atleast had a eta. seems bizarre we are having to buy these from amazon and such. theyre missing out on early adopter sales
![]() I dont think there is much bar one option on amazon that will ship the panasonic to au and its got a 1-2 month wait. |

I picked up The Amazing Spider-Man 2 UHD Blu-ray from JB HiFi today:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...13&postcount=9 Also, I posted on Friday afternoon in the Australian sub-forum about a few JB locations in Sydney that had received stock of the Samsung UBD-K8500, which I forgot to post here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...5&postcount=40 |

Also i spoke a person at Rio sound and vision and they were meant to get their stock of the samsung player friday afternoon /saturday if anyone is waiting on their preorders from them.

I see all this talk about 4k at 50/60fps
I have Deadpool and MadMax on 4K UHD Blu Ray, Both look stunning in 4K but the frame rate is still 24fps. Do I have it set up wrong? I am also running an 65" LG UHD TV from 2014 so it doesn't have HDR but The Difference from Blu Ray to 4K Blu ray is very noticeable and stunning the colour and contrast are very different ( to me anyway) I am using the Samsung UHD Player. |
