I may have overlooked it, but is there a thread around Vudu D2D not working anymore after moving? I've searched Vudu forums, emailed their customer service (which is terrible), and tried virtually everything. Basically, anything you can find online about your current location not being where you're at when trying to do conversions, I've done and still no luck. It's like I moved to a black hole according to Vudu. Frustrating as I still had probably one more year worth of discs to convert and then I would officially be done.
Appreciate if anyone knows of a forum or could point me to something that is not the obvious google search and top 50 hits. Thanks! |

My Prepaid Debit card (for location) + Vudu Gift Card (for payment) method works for me, but someone here reported it doesn't for them. The same prepaid debit card has worked for me at 4 locations since those don't have a set billing address and any billing address works: Home, gf's old house, work, & my brothers' cabin. Step 1: Prepaid Debit - Buy a Prepaid Debit card (I use Vanilla Debit Visa Card) for which I paid $52 for a $50 gift card balance + $2 fee online. Since these have no address as the billing address you can use ANY address. This card will be good for at least 10 years and can be used without any balance once it's fully expended for this trick. Step 2: Remove Payment Methods: - Remove your own Credit Card/Paypal account from your Vudu account. Account -> Payment Methods. Step 3: Add Prepaid Debit THIS PART MUST BE DONE ON YOUR PHONE. - On mobile phone (I use iPhone, non-apple may be different) Go to the D2D site. - Scroll down and press on [Convert Disc] green button - Under the top item of "No Billing on file" Press the [Add] button - Add the Prepaid Debit card with whatever your new address is. - Press [Save] button. - You're redirected back to the previous screen and the usual pop up of "Vudu.com would like to use your current location" and press [Allow]. - Press the blue [Convert Disc] button - Scan barcodes away and add D2D movies! The phone will now see that you are at your billing address, by the Prepaid Debit, and allow payment via that debit. Once the prepaid debit gets down to a $0 balance, the trick still works for location purposes, and you'll need to buy Vudu gift cards and have those registered as payment methods: Step 4: Vudu Gift Cards - Buy Vudu gift cards with your personal credit card/Paypal - Attach them to your Vudu Account - KEEP the Prepaid Debit card attached to your account above for location purposes/billing address - Scan barcodes away and add D2D movies! As long as your Vudu gift cards are a positive balance, the system will NOT look at the Prepaid Debit for a balance. I continually use the same Vanilla eGift card over and over even though it's had a $0 balance for 2 years. FYI, Vudu gift cards are 15% off. Last edited by adelavan; 02-07-2023 at 08:45 PM. |

Most are recent codes that have past expiration. WB have over the last few years been giving 1 year expiration on blu-ray codes and 2 years on 4K. They wiped out most of them over the last week.

Sounds like a bunch of people are just getting around to redeeming codes years later. Hopefully more won't truly expire to the point of not redeeming. CS can be pretty tough to deal with if you don't have your original receipt. That works out if you bought on say Amazon where you can access order history. But otherwise it's a challenge. I couldn't even get Vudu to upgrade a movie from sd to hd that waz redeemed from a blu. I've seen where some people store original receipts in the cases and maybe that's an idea as well, though I don't like that extra clutter in the case.

Even with non-expired codes WB is a pain in the ass. I purchased a WB from Gruv that didn't have the digital copy and they wouldn't give me a replacement code, they made me do an exchange with Gru. |

I don't think disabling EXPIRED codes give much a a reason to conclude anything else. I mean, they're expired, there isn't much of a complaint here, it's not like they're a best buy date (although, I think the outside packaging should be clearer on the expiration date).

Amidst the other financially driven changes WB/Discovery has been making as of late, it's easy to infer this most recent move is being done for similar reasons. They likely saw the selling and trading of older digital codes as a loss of potential revenue and decided to put a stop to it. So, with the above assessment in mind, it lead me to question if the eligible D2D titles were at risk of being removed too. Why? Because of the $2 blu-ray conversion price. If they are so focused on acquiring every last possible cent from the sale of digital copies, they could conceivably end D2D participation so as to funnel customers towards the more common $5 price point seen in weekly sales and FanFlix offerings. Hopefully they don't go that far and conclude that $2 on certain titles is better than $0. Nonetheless, I recently picked up some WB D2D titles on my list, just in case. |

They weren't hurting the average customer, they only hurt the people who were benefiting from these grey market codes in a manner that (I think anyone would agree) was not intended when they started including these codes with discs. $2 for D2D is exactly what they thought they'd get, but I'm sure they're getting more redemptions than they'd have expected. But I suppose they might be looking at it as they're making more than they expected too. Realistically, they could pull D2D at any time too, as there is no given expectation as to how long it'll be around. Many thought it might go away when Fandango took over, but it didn't happen. As the movies haven't updated much lately, I'd have to assume many people wouldn't notice if it went away (the people hanging around in this forum aren't the average movie buyer). |

Usually when I buy a BR with a digital copy slip, I buy at a price I'd be okay with paying just for the discs, but do pay a few extra dollars if a slip is in there. Paying more attention to WB releases now... |

I do need to keep checking the D2D list. While looking at one of the Fanflix deals, I realized most were already available for $2. Grabbed a few more D2D today:
The Accountant The Ghost Writer Joe The King's Speech Paddington 2 (because of Unbearable Talent) The Pianist Red Dragon Winter's Bone |
