![]() ![]() Gun Fury 3D Blu-ray Well I was sat here watching Gun Fury on More4, thinking nothing of it except it was an OK 50's western. Then suddenly, the villain threw a rock and a log at Hudson and we saw it coming into the camera...a sure sign that this was filmed in 3D. On further investigation..i.e. a trip to IMDB ![]() IMDB What a nice surprise. It was a pretty good western and while watching it, I did think that the locations looked similar to that other Rock Hudson 3D western, "Taza, Son of Cochise" (which has excellent 3D by the way). Let's hope these 3D westerns follow "Creature from the Black Lagoon", "Dial M for Murder" and "House of Wax" as 50's movies getting released on Blu-ray 3D. ![]() Gae Last edited by Deciazulado; 03-20-2018 at 09:02 PM. |

The location shooting on Gun Fury was done in Arizona, while that on Taza, Son of Cochise was done in Utah (mostly around Moab and Arches National Park.) |

One of the reasons I (seem to) know so much about the locations in Taza is because I recently returned from vacation in Moab, Utah. I wasn't actively trying to locate the same locations used in that film, but when I returned and began examining my photos, I realized that I had visited some of the exact same settings (my photos on right)! Nice to see that some things don't change after half a century! |

Wow, stunning pics JamesN. As you said...its nice to see landscape that is unspoilt by man. Here's that same scene in 3D.
![]() Have you seen Taza, Son of Cochise in 3D? The 3D is stunning. I've got some more examples on my Blog. Taza, Son of Cochise and another.... ![]() Gae Last edited by Gae; 08-01-2012 at 10:53 PM. |

Yes, I was fortunate enough to see Taza in 3-D on the big screen at the second World 3-D Expo in Hollywood in 2006 (and Gun Fury at the first Expo in 2003). And I have visited your wonderful blog many times. ![]() |

How does the 3D in Gun Fury compare to that seen in Taza? I'm really hoping that they release more and more of these 50's movies on Blu-ray 3D. There is so much converted stuff and other rubbish being released at the moment (amongst the good stuff obviously) that these would be a breath of fresh air. Sure, the films may seem a bit dated by today's standards (although I still enjoy them just as much) but they really knew how to shoot properly in 3D back then. I think that the Studios' willingness to invest in more Golden Age 3-D is going to depend heavily on how well the BDs of Dial M for Murder, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and (the rumored but still unannounced) House of Wax sell. |

Of course, we classic movie fans are already sold on these releases but are there enough of us? I suppose a lot has to do with how the larger peripheral audience will respond. How willing are they to buy and/or rent what are "dated" movies, to their eyes, in order to be able to watch top notch 3D? ![]() Gae Last edited by Gae; 08-02-2012 at 02:50 PM. |

I'd also like to see these older films brought to Blu Ray 3D soon at a budget price, say 15.99$ new. I wonder if they knew about post editing convergence and all the adjustments modern stereographers know about today. I'm betting they did. And back then, thankfully there wasn't the concept of "Let's film it in 2D, and then we'll just have it converted to 3D".

TT has confirmed this for awhile now.
But it's good to have a thread ready when it's officially announced. |

I just asked Nick Redman of Twilight Time. If this is going to happen, and he said YES by the end of this year.
So there ya go. |
