I believe the OP's intent was for deals directly from the boutique studios/distributors themselves. Sure, mainstream retailers may ultimately sell their releases online, but I thought this was about sales from those boutiques directly.

Not my thread, so the OP can slap me down if I'm misunderstanding.
I definitely agree with the idea of trying to support the smaller independent boutique companies. I’m just not sure that they’d all agree that it has to be direct. Probably a poor example since the official market for their Region B releases is the UK, but 88 always directly steers customers to Amazon UK and elsewhere for their preorders, and their own site sales are never a deal for me because of their shipping prices to the US. Also, most companies don’t have a rep here in the forum, so it’s hard to guess the others’ preferences, but this exchange with KLI has stuck with me ever since. Food for thought.

KL Insider-- I want to support these TV movie releases immediately

I've always wondered-- does it make any difference to Kino on whether I buy these from Amazon, Target, Bullmoose, or your actual site?

Does your data of sales take any of these things into consideration?

I agree that they would have differing opinions on the subject. 88 Films is an odd duck regarding distribution but a great example as well. They don't keep much product for themselves and they clearly prefer retailers to move their inventory rather than themselves.

Two more edge cases:

A. Indicator relies on the great Limewood Media to distribute their product. They sell a lot during sales events and LW generally handle the volume/surge very well.

B. Third Window Films has a distribution deal with Arrow but sales through Arrow direct provide TWF the smallest cut. The best cut comes from sales at Terracotta Distribution (with whom they have begun to have more promotions with in recent years).

Epic Pictures and Scream Team Releasing both have Black Friday half off sales as well. They are definitely on the smaller end of boutique labels, but I know quite a few of us look forward to their sales each year! :

I still don't understand why everyone considers WAC a boutique label. It's still Warner (with the regular Warner logo) and they are sold through all of the retail outlets.

Maybe it’s more about the material the sub-label releases. Like vintage musicals as opposed to new super hero blockbusters.

WAC is a boutique sub-label. They're serving the same niche market (cinephiles) that smaller boutique labels do with similarly limited supply at premium prices. In other words, Warner is Ford. The rest are Ferraris.

My efforts as a curator/archivist (and a woman) in the industry have definitely have helped shape this outlook. We’re rebels to a degree, outsiders inside the system—what we do doesn’t hold much ROI for studios or their investors. George is to WB what Jerry Beck is to vintage animation—operating on passion above all else and working hard to get as much material as possible released to the people who will appreciate it most. That, to me, is at the the crux of boutique.
Thanks for the insight. I will now consider WAC a boutique label, and a damn good one at that.

Eureka has targeted sales in the UK, with free worldwide shipping over ~50 pounds. There is a consistent sale for Halloween, but the reminder mostly pops up at DVDTalk.

They do. Though recently with India, they started to charge 10GBP for tracked shipping due to numerous incidents of packages going missing. That was a couple months ago, not sure if that has changed.

Yep, I thought I got dinged for shipping on Duel to the Death, but nope. Sorry about that, all the other orders have been free shipping too.
