Favorite 7 Bond Soundtracks

7 as in "the seven soundtrack wonders of the Bond world"! ... Soundtrack includes both the score and the songs ... What are your favorite 7?


Below is a list in the order of release:

You Only Live Twice (John Barry) : Probably the most romantic soundtrack of the franchise. The title song by Nancy Sinatra and its instrumental versions that play during the film are magical. The film's final act is legendary, helped by tracks such as "Bond Averts WW3". There is also an excellent collection of tracks compiled under "Bond in Japan".

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (John Barry): A well-rounded soundtrack that brings some of the best Bond score elements together. Along with the song "We Have All the Time In the Word" by Louis Armstrong, memorable tracks include "This Never Happened to the Other Fellow", "Ski Chase", "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", "Over and out", "Escape from Piz Gloria", etc.

Diamonds Are Forever (John Barry): It has the Bondesque title song by Bond regular Shirley Bassey. The excellent "Bond Meets Bambi and Thumper", "Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd", "Peter Franks", and "Following the Diamonds".

Live and Let Die (George Martin): Sports the legendary title song and the foot-tapping "James Bond Theme". Excellent tracks include "Bond Meets Solitaire", "Whisper Who Dares", "If he Finds it, Kill Him", and so on.

Octopussy (John Barry): A solid soundtrack - "Bond Look-Alike", "009 Gets the Knife", "That's My Little Octopussy", "Arrival At the Island of Octopussy", "The Chase Bomb Theme", and "The Palace Fight".

The Living Daylights (John Barry): This film is full of great tracks including "The Ice Chase", Hercules Takes Off", "Inflight Fight", "Assassin And Drugged", "Exercise at Gibraltor", "The Sniper Was A Woman", "Mujahadin And Opium", "Afghanistan Plan", and one could go on and on.

The World is Not Enough (David Arnold): Another gem with intriguing title song and tracks such as "Come in 007, Your Time is Up", "Welcome to Baku", "Elektra's Theme", "Body Double", "Welcome to Kazakhstan", and "Orbis Non-Sufficit".


Honorable mentions: This can be a long list as every Bond album would have something interesting so the best option is to skip it ... However, if I have to mention one, will go with Goldfinger (John Barry) as it narrowly missed out. Besides the title song, notable tracks include "Alpine Drive", "Golden Girl", "Death of Tilley", and various tracks that incorporate "Goldfinger instrumental".

Talking about theme songs, Shirley Bassey knocked all 3 songs (Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, & Moonraker) out of the park!

OHMSS and LALD are probably my faves, but I gotta say that Burt Bacharach's Casino Royale (1967) is SUBLIME.
