^That's one thing I wouldn't mind the remake doing differently, if they do change anything--Beatrix should've joined the group after Brahne's death. TBH, Amarant is the weakest link in this game, his spot would have been better filled by her.

2026 would be okay with me, that would give us a 2 year breather between FF7 Rebirth Part 2 and FF9 Remake.

Unless they announce another spinoff game that releases in 2025.

I never did beat the original PS2 game, stopped playing it near the halfway point.

I didn't even know The 3rd Birthday was connected to parasite Eve, thanks for the info! (I haven't played any of them to be clear)

Yeah, does seem criminal that DQ8 isn't on any current consoles.

I only like the first Parasite Eve.

I still wish we got a real Chrono Trigger sequel.

DQ8 is on 3DS with a lot of improvements (and some downgrades). But yeah to play the PS2 version you unfortunately need a PS2 or an OG PS3.

or you can use a ps2 emulator. there's also a mobile version that you can only play vertically lol

the problem with the 3ds version is that Nintendo/SE only made 13 copies.

He owns the IP (the games are a loose sequel to the novel) and won’t license it out. When it came time for them to make another game, they couldn’t use the titular character or make any reference to the mitochondria plot, which is why T3B makes zero reference to the first two games. They could only use the original characters that they created and own (Aya, clone Eve, Kyle, etc).

And IV, V, VI, and VII. The remakes of the former three shouldn’t be stuck in handheld prison, get them back on TVs!

One thing I’d like with an FFIX remake is spicing up the events and settings from the second disc. IX is one of the mix of candidates that I could give the fifth spot in my top five (firm members being IV, VI, XII, and XIII) because it does a lot really well but the second disc is a drag whenever I come back to it. It doesn’t help that I’m stuck with one of the characters I don’t care about at all (Quina,) Steiner is gone for most of the disc , and Amarant isn’t that great…and while we’re at it, Freya is another character I have no interest in, Eiko is okay for story purposes. I just like the four core characters - Zidane, Dagger, Vivi, and Steiner. Kuja isn’t a tremendous villain either.

Final Fantasy 8 was good. That Final Fantasy 8 remastered is okay, because of 2020 revenue hit from covid and better then nothing.

I'm still crazy hopeful we'll eventually get a remake that combines both the PS2 and 3DS versions. Like what happened with Xenoblade Chronicles 1, but multi-platform.

They meant that certain PS3s can play the PS2 version thru backwards compatibility. There is no PS3 version.

That "confirmation" is still just a rumor/leak, Jeff Grubb is not Square-Enix.

Well hopefully it is true this will happen along with the FFX remake and I hope they will both still be turn based combat.
