Default The Gates of Hell (City of the Living Dead) (1980) coming from Code Red

Quote:
Here is our new custom cover art for the upcoming release of GATES OF HELL from artist Nathan Thomas Milliner. Yes, we will be using the GATES OF HELL title on our releases. So many fans grew up watching that Paragon VHS tape so we thought it would be fun to go with that title and the classic GATES OF HELL poster for the reverse artwork.

We will be doing a brand new 2k scan from the original negative. We will have more info on the extras soon. So keep an eye out for future news on these pages.

[Show spoiler]Well, it looks like Code Red is hinting at Fulci's City of the Living Dead .

It seems that BU is losing the rights to bunch of movies. First, Scorpion Releasing's tease about Two Evil Eyes, and now this...Wonder what's next.

Despite the scanner noise on the BU disc, City of the Living Dead by itself is not enough to get me to double dip. However, if Code Red also gets House by the Cemetery then I'd probably get both.

Already own the BU disc but if this is gonna be an improvement in PQ, I just might double dip.

I'll definitely double dip, I expect a lack of scanner noise on this one.

Day one purchase if it's a new transfer.

Technically, nothing, but the transfer itself is now about 6 years old. Some people would say a new scan isn't really needed while others might welcome a fresh 2 or 4K scan. Personally, I think the existing Blu's look fine (I've got about 4 different editions of the film on BD) so maybe I'm biased against a new reissue but if Code Red is somehow able to strike a new scan from the OCN I'll be among the first in line to double dip. This is my favorite Fulci film.

Just recently watched Arrow's releases of The Beyond and City. It's strange, I've had The Beyond on VHS, DVD and Blu and watched it several times over 20 years. At first I thought it was disappointing, then it became quite good and now that I watched the Blu-ray for the second time it suddenly became one of the greatest horror movies ever! I even had to buy the soundtrack on vinyl right after.

Now CotLD I've seen only twice and I find it much lesser film and frankly boring compared to The Beyond. Same with House by the Cemetery. Maybe some day after a few spins they will hit me too.
Blu-wishlist: Let's Scare Jessica to Death, The Tenant, Class of 1999

I remember watching this with my girlfriend for the first time (she bought me the Arrow Blu-ray whilst abroad). My mother was seemingly asleep on the sofa. Only the next morning she commented on what a load of crap it is, meanwhile expressing sympathy for poor Bob.
Play Shadow of the Tomb Raider or gtfo

I haven't watched CotLD yet, but I felt the same way while watching The Beyond.

If you didn't care for The Beyond, you probably won't enjoy Living Dead. I like them both, but The Beyond may be my favourite of Fulci's 'Gates of Hell' trilogy.

The famous Bob is not in this one, so unless you're talking about a different Bob I think what you saw was House by the Cemetery.

There is a character named Bob in City of the Living Dead that meets a very unfortunate end.

This is cool. I have the BU version as part of the Lucio Fulci collection along with House and NY Ripper. Thought about picking them up as separate discs and now I think I will, at least this one.
