Default Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield - Coming November 15th

UPDATE:

ORIGINAL POST:

Pokemon CEO: Next year’s game (second half 2019) will be brand new game. So not like an upgrade of LGP/LGE

Pokemon CEO: Let’s Go P/E are more focused on home gaming, but next year’s games will be more about handheld elements

An additional, "core RPG" Pokémon game, entirely separate from the just-announced Pokémon Let's Go! Pikachu and Eevee games, is also in development.

Details are very thin on the ground - the game is currently untitled - but we know that it will be "in the style of Pokémon X and Y and Sun and Moon", which we understand to mean traditional catching methods, and without the emphasis on Pokémon Go-style features and cross-functionality.

The games are slated for "the second half of 2019", according to Junichi Masuda, managing director of the mainline Pokémon RPG developer Game Freak.

The news comes amidst a swathe of announcements at the Pokémon press conference that was held in Tokyo, Japan earlier today, which Eurogamer attended.

Not really sure how LGP/E stands as more of a "home" game compared to the other games considering 90% of it can be completed by grabbing a phone and walking outside. Do they know what a home console is at Nintendo?

Speaking to Japanese publication Famitsu, which haas a massive 20 page feature on Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu, Let's Go Eevee and Quest, features an interview with The Pokémon Company CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara who provided a few minor tidbits about the upcoming Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch due out in 2019. He reconfirmed that this game is due for release in the second half of 2019, will have better graphics than any prior Pokémon game, that it'll be completely new and not like Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Let's Go Eevee and states that it will contain many brand new Pokémon.

That last part was pretty obvious, given that every generation adds new Pokémon. I just hope it’s nothing stupid, because we already have keys, ice cream cone, sand castle, and sword. We don’t need any more stupid Pokémon.

Pokémon CEO Says 2019 Switch RPG Will Be Something Longtime Fans Have Waited For

“The new title coming out in the second half of 2019 will be a completely different game [from Pokémon Let’s Go]. It is not an entry game, but a game that we want longtime fans of the Pokémon series to look forward to.”

“The game will give a good understanding of what an evolved Pokémon game looks like after it has continued to succeed the traditions of Game Freak.”

“We want to make Pokémon fans say ‘this is what I’ve been waiting for’ by delivering a brand-new product packed with gameplay elements and plenty of new Pokémon to encounter.”

I should hopefully be able to get through the other Pokemon games by then. I'm playing Pokemon Yellow for the first time right now. I have Red from back when it first came out but never played any of the other games in the series after that for some reason (other than some side games like Detective Pikachu and Super Mystery Dungeon).

Digitally I have Red, Yellow, and Crystal (picked Yellow and Crystal up from Best Buy when they were just on sale). Physically I have Pokemon X (never got around to playing it) and Pokemon Ultra Moon (just picked up thanks to the Best Buy $10 off offer)

Obviously I have other games to pick up. Anyone have any suggestions for which version of the games to pick? (OR/AS, B/W, etc)

Do you think “Let’s Go” is a one-off, or do you think it’s the beginning of a new series of Pokémon games? How many more games do you think will get the Pokémon GO treatment?

I guess if it makes money then why not.

Maybe all remakes from now on will be GO titles.

I will have to wait and see what it plays like before deciding if I like the idea of it or not.

Would GO work in its own world? Or would GO work better as a way of re exploring old regions with new and expanded locations and stories?

It would certainly be a good way to push remakes, plus they can rely on the junior team to make them whilst the senior team focus on mainline games.

I guess this is also relevant here,

I can't remember if I posted here or era but I guessed the new Pokemon would end up being leaked early if it was linked to Go. And funnily enough this strange new Pokemon has been discovered in the depths of Pokemon GO data.

I'll spoiler tag it in case anyone wants to wait for the official reveal, but there's a possibility this could be nothing but right now it's looking to be our first look at a gen VIII Pokemon.

It's that time of year again, the Pokémon rumours are running wild and the latest suggests that the new game will feature 4 or 5 regions plus 1 all new region based on China.

The Pokémon Twitter feed has started posting "tourism" videos, the first one was a "Visit Hoenn" type video showing off various locations in the region attractive to tourists.

Here's a link to all the info this guy has posted so far, https://archive.nyafuu.org/vp/search...kwddac/page/1/

it's always fun to read this stuff and cry when none of it turns out to be true lol. He did predict the Hoenn video though so who knows.

If the game is anything other than a "Breath of the Wild" style open world, I’ll be disappointed.

I'd die and go to heaven if you can visit multiple regions in one game. I've got very little hope that something like this will happen, but you never know. My expectations are low after SM/USUM.

Easy to read list of what the "leaker" posted
  • -The games will be announced on February 26th or 27th. He believes that the 26th the safest.
  • -Will release on November 15, 2019.
  • -They will be revolutionary games, and will be very reminiscent of the first concept art of CapsuMon, before the release of Red and Green.
  • -The 3D models are the same as in XY and onwards, but they have improved animations and a new system that allows Pokémon to relate to the environment in a natural way. Thanks to this, almost all imaginable Pokémon that can be mounted as transport (like in Let’s Go) will be available for this.
  • -There are more than 100 NEW Pokémon.
  • -There will be a Dragon-type Eeveelution.
  • -The map is the biggest seen in a modern video game.
  • -The Pokémon level-up much slower due to a new exp system (probably due to the size of the map).
  • -The dungeons are extensive and take a long time to explore compared to previous games, and you can build tents in them (that reminded me of the bonfires integrated into DQXI dungeons).
  • -Free camera finally.
  • -New catching mechanics that combines elements of the classic titles and Let’s Go.
  • -Still keeps the turn based system, but the battles are "more realistic”.
  • -There are difficulty options.
  • -Along with your team of 6, you can use any Pokémon on the PC to do certain things in the environment (like HMs/their replacement).
  • -Old regions will appear (those that were based in Japan) but more extensive than ever. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and new regions to fill in the blanks.
  • -The map is in fact based in Japan, so there are regions that fill the "gaps" left by the other 4. But apart from Japan there are more regions, one of them is based in China and plays an important role in the history. It emphasizes how impressive the map is.
  • -They have been taking into account the competitive side of Pokémon.
  • -It may take some time to evolve the Pokémon, so that you experience many adventures with each of its stages. This is due to the new scaled system of experience and is one of the bases of the “revolutionary gameplay". When a Pokémon evolves images appear as a summary of the best moments lived with this phase of your Pokémon that is evolving.
  • -It is an open-world but it has certain linear parts like the classic Pokémon games.
  • -Team Rocket appears, but in this case they will help you at some point against another major threat, which is not even considered a "villain team".
  • -You can find the Pokémon on the map interacting with the environment, but they can also surprise you by suddenly appearing in tall grass, for example.
  • -You can walk around the map with some freedom and choose the order you like more. Although there are known regions, the story is new.
  • -There will be many secrets and reactions in the Pokémon and gives as an example the result of giving a Shuckle berry juice.
  • -The anime character Shinji (Paul) appears in the games. He has not said if other anime characters appear.
