Last time I saw DOFP on TV, they were playing the Rogue version. You'd think they'd put them both out there, since it seems popular enough to air.

Given that the first X-Men trilogy is coming out in 4K in a couple of weeks, and the second trilogy is out in 4K as a Wal-Mart Exclusive, I'm surprised that the Wolverine trilogy hasn't at least been suggested as a forthcoming release.

(I couldn't care less about X-Men Origins, but that's me...)
By the second trilogy do you mean First Class, DOFP and Apocalypse?

The Wolverine has some beautiful photography and already looks great on Blu-ray, so I'm sure it'll look even better on 4K. I don't see why they wouldn't do both the Theatrical and the Extended Cut. If I remember correctly, it's basically the same movie just with extended scenes of graphic violence.

I actually prefer the theatrical cut of DoFP. The Rogue Cut is a lot different compared to the theatrical cut, with basically an alternate storyline running through it. The one problem I have with it is that it's stitched together with unfinished outtake scenes added back in, causing visual continuity errors. I'm sure Fox will release a 4K of the Rogue Cut at some point, but they'll probably just release it at later date as a separate movie from the theatrical, like how it was originally released on blu.

I know. I meant as the three movies together in one package.

No, as someone else said.

The optimism about including both versions of The Wolverine on a hypothetical 4K release is that they included the "noir" version of Logan in the same release (or at least some of the releases) with the theatrical version.

At least with Logan, you can flip your TV to black and white if they don't include Noir. Can't do that with Wolverine.

I like a lot of little moments they added in the Rogue Cut. Can't believe they cut stuff like the "friendly fire" line or the future mutants worrying they won't exist. However two major Rogue Cut additions... Rogue herself and Mystique in the mansion... bother me SO much I still prefer the theatrical cut overall.

Helps the theatrical is the only one on UHD, which makes "which one should I watch" an easy question to answer.

I still have never seen the Rogue Cut. Everytime I saw a copy in Best Buy (or wherever), I'd think about getting it, but then said, "Nah. Maybe next time."

DoFP's theatrical cut's pacing is way better but I agree that the Rogue Cut has some moments that are indispensable. Haven't watched either version since probably around when Apocalypse came out, I'll probably go for the theatrical.

I think a few things make a little more sense in the Rogue version, like Hank's question of whether he makes it being moved from the battle to earlier in the mansion, the dialogue with the future mutants in the beginning, and the Sentinels catching the X-Men by the hand in the jet.

The main reason to get the Rogue Cut is the second disc of extras, which are all new extras not on the original release. And new commentary tracks on both the theatrical and the Rogue Cut.

But the Rogue Cut itself is more like a rough cut than anything - it is an unfinessed alternate footage version. Not a director’s cut by any means.

I found it for $30 [X-Men Prequel Trilogy 4K], thought for $10 per disc great deal and with codes and I think bluray too.

The theatrical version is definitely better than the Rogue Cut. Rogue's entire sequence made no sense and was rather redundant IMO. I can see why it was axxed

The biggest plothole was that they did not have alot of time bc Kitty was dying and it was high stakes. With that being the case, why did Magneto and Iceman go after Rogue in the Blackbird? Why dint they just use Blink to teleport in and out of there. Iceman's death could have been prevented had Blink come along and it would have been a faster retrieval mission. Blink was still alive at this point so it made zero sense that they would waste time flying to Rogue instead of porting her out of there. Which goes back to the original point bc at any point, they could have done this prior to the events of the film. Logically, it just doesnt work and was a major plothole

And outside of that detour, Rogue adds nothing to the film. She literally just replaces Kitty. Its not like she gets any meaningful interaction or reunions with anyone nor is anything affected once she takes over. Thats why she felt redundant

The reason they never saved her before is given as Iceman's team knowing where she is but not knowing how to get into the X-Mansion; and Professor's team believing she's dead because the room she's in (Cerebro) is not penetrable by his powers.

Okay, and why didnt they use Blink for the mission bc that was the biggest plot hole
