Yeah, I can't justify the AV10 either. I've spent way more than I should'a already with last summer's upgrades. Weird though that Pioneer doesn't have separate sub controls. Maybe they have a reason or didn't feel they needed it. Dirac is supposed to be pretty awesome, after all.

Sounds like you are keeping the MFW-15 for nostalgia's sake....that is a lot of moving parts going on there.

I guess Pioneer does not consider that essential, even if it is one of their better AVR's.

Yeah, I couldn't get myself to get rid of it. That thing running solo still digs deeper than both of my PSA XV-15se's running simultaneously. Which is a good thing because turning it on gives the extra depth when I want/need it. Mark Seaton (the MFW original designer), has a re-designed replacement drop-in amp for it, which is supposed to also improve performance over the original amp. Class D too, so should run more efficiently, unlike the original amp which was notorious for dying. I want to get one, but he only releases them based on demand and I keep missing it.

I could not remember what a Class D amp does.....forgot that it operates by modulating the pulse at a very fast pace to remove high frequency noise and is not so much for gains. It seems they are very efficient, so I can see why this might work for your MFW, as it provides the volume without needing more power. Very Interesting.

Yeah most sub amps these days are Class D. I'm pretty sure SVS is all Class D now, too. I know my PB1000s are. My PSA subs are Class D, and they're coming up on 8 years now.

Makes sense.....I have been away too long. I have actually been reading up on Big Daddy's stickys to get caught back up. Amazing what you forget when you don't stay on top of things for a while.
