I liked it for what it was but agree the script needed work and them editing it down to PG-13 was a catastrophic choice.

Oh well, onto the next one.

Depends on the reviewer. Stuckman is like the most boring person alive, so no I wouldn't in this case. I tend to just listen to them while doing other stuff, so it's not really the same as watching a movie or TV show.

Seriously? What a dumb question. I just watched his review and it was well worth my time due to how he breaks down what is wrong with this movie and why it's so bad. I haven't seen it but his review provided enough insight into why this film is a failure, and he provides enough footage of it for me to get an idea of where he's coming from in regards to his criticism.

I've watched plenty of long film reviews that are worth watching due to how well the reviewer can break down what works in a film, and what doesn't. It's interesting from a critical standpoint but also a filmmaking standpoint. Reviews like this provide insightful commentary regarding films... how is that insane? I'd gladly spend 20-30 minutes watching a review for a bad movie like this, rather watching the movie itself. It's sure to be more entertaining.

You're Chris Stuckman right?

I can waste 24 minutes on browsing my blu-ray collection trying to decide on what to re-watch

Still more entertaining than this movie, though, LOL.

I prefer to make my own mind up with stuff. I don't need someone I've never met who doesn't know my tastes to tell me whether something is worth my time or not. If people want to spend 25 minutes watching some dude review a movie, have at it.

The clumsy cuts as shown in some youtube reviews to omit R-Rated violence is impossible to ignore. This irks me as a horrorfilm fan. It makes the film look bad by default. It's just an annoying reminder for the viewer that Black Christmas was intentionally trimmed for a PG-13 rating in order to make more money at the box office. It wasn't cut because the director had an artistic change of heart. That's bullsh*t because they knew they had a hot mess at hands. Had they filmed the movie right from the start with a PG-13 rating in mind and maybe with a clearer vision I would have given them the benefit of the doubt.

The toxic male thing is a different story though. A feminist friend of mine's favorite film is Showgirls (not that it matters but she's not gay). Maybe I should wait for her opinion about Black Christmas

Depends entirely on the reviewers and the material they are reviewing/analyzing/dissecting. I'm personally much more into film analysis than reviews, but that's me.

Yep, who is that dork to tell me if I'm gonna appreciate a movie or not? An idiot who thinks he's cool and understands movies? Duh. Plus he's over 30, time to get a real job.

Which failed, anyway (like I suspected it would all along, just like it did Expendables 3, go figure) because it actually made LESS than the 2006 remake which was R, and that's with 13 years of inflation and "being available to a wider audience" to boot.

A straight horror film maybe (A Quiet Place was great because it was filmed in PG-13 in mind from the get-go, not edited down), but a slasher movie? Again, that's like making a porno without nudity. You'd still have in essence a slasher movie without slashing, and the "kills" would still be completely joyless, quirky editing or no quirky editing.
