Default Anybody else get an "important info about your account" email from amazon?

Just got this from amazon today:

Quote:
Hello,

We’re contacting you to let you know that our website inadvertently disclosed
your name and email address due to a technical error. The issue has been fixed.
This is not a result of anything you have done, and there is no need for you to
change your password or take any other action.

Sincerely,
Customer Service
http://Amazon.com
That's an awfully vague and a little too short of an email for amazon. I'm concerned it might soon be followed up by a "We're sorry, but our website was compromised worse than we thought."

And the spam has already started. Thanks amazon! Might not have to change my password on their one site. Instead I might have to change my email on about 50!!

Sorry about that. I didn't get an email but I did notice that despite them closing my seller account (since I wasn't using it), they took the liberty of keeping my bank account and listing it as a payment method. DELETE. Not trusting them with that (though who knows if you really delete something these days).

Now I have another reason to be concerned that amazon may not know or trust the extent of this security breach. I've placed about a half dozen orders in the past week, but last night I went to buy something and they required me to confirm the card number for the saved card I was paying with (same requirement for all my saved cards popped up, not just the one). I exited out of my browser and re-entered amazon via my normal favorites link, to make sure I didn't go through some phishing email or something, as I couldn't remember exactly the path I took and the payment selection page looked overly simplified too. But I still had to confirm the card and after I did everything looked normal.

And the mystery continues: Just found out that my American express card, which is stored with my amazon account has been compromised. Now to check the other cards stored there. Of course I did use it at BN, where I bought something for the first time in years, about a month ago. Considering how horribly ad-ridden and glitchy BN's site is, maybe we'll be hearing about a major security breach from them soon too.
