Just wondering, I've seen GITS:SAC on iTunes in HD and on Amazon but I can't see any info on language and subtitle tracks. Are they dub only?

Thanks

Yes. SAC on all of the legal download to own services and streaming sites is dub only.

Hasn't this come out on Blu-ray in JP, too? Hope that means someone can license and release it here. Bandai Visual did the DVDs, and they're done with USA business, so I hope Funimation can save it and do 2 boxsets like they did with Guilty Crown for these 2 seasons. I'd prefer artbooks over physical goodies, personally.

Manga Entertainment still hold the rights to it unfortunately. Who knows if they'll ever release it on BD. Even if they were to, it's likely they'd screw it up somehow.

Best case scenario would be for their rights to expire and one of the other companies like Funi were to license it.

EDIT: I should clarify. Bandai Entertainment and Manga co-licensed SAC together for DVD. When Bandai shutdown, their part of the rights transferred over to Manga.

Exactly why I bought these babies. This bodes well for my investment, they'll probably botch it somehow even if they do release it in a hundred years.

They are subtitled? If so where did you get them?

Hmm I think these are the Japanese special edition sets, and to what I can see, they don't have English subs. So unless you are fluent in Japanese, they are more or less equivalent in content to buying the HD digital downloads that are available (1080p and English Dub). But if like me you are after original language and subtitles you are out of luck.

I guess you could subtitle the blu-rays yourself though. That is so much work though.

The English dub is included but no sub. There expensive, I'm saving up to eventually buy them.

Thanks.

If they had subs, I'd buy them. Without them though they are no better than the digital versions available to me.

If it wasn't for Manga having their rotting claws still wrapped around this series I'm sure it would have been rescued by another distributor.

Yup no English subtitle support, only Japanese. You'll have to mux your own over.

Still worth every penny though.

I would so love this how on BD. This is one of my favorite anime series of all time and it has also one of the best dubs ever.

Yeah I've done it a few times and it really sucks the enjoyment out of watching it. Then when you do you pick flaws and it never ends.

Love this show. Hope it gets released on Blu-ray stateside (or the UK). As long as Manga didn't royally screw it up I'd be fine with them doing it. No way I could ever justify the insane price of the Japanese box set. Don't love the show that much.

I would, but the English audio is in standard dolby. My DVDs are superior than that because the audio is in DTS.

Yep, got tired of waiting for any US releases, so back in July I bit the bullet and just bought 'em all in their Japanese releases (except the two compilation movies, which I see no need for), in one swoop... About $800 total - even though I knew the first movie was coming out on Blu-ray this Fall...

But, it does really irritate me there are only English dubs but no subs for the two SAC series, as I'm a die-hard sub-only viewer. At least the three movies do have subs...

Yeah, those look beautiful, but that price tag is too large. And I'm a guy who likes the English dub.

Damn straight-subs only are for dead people. LOL-but that'd make me dead as I'm currently watching a subbed only series.
