Did anyone pick up this release?

The specs seem to be identical to the UK release, and apparently it even has English subtitles.

I really want to know too. It would be great if this and Cat People were region free. However, I won't get my hopes up.

Which means little. The UK disc is distributed by Second Sight, the German on by Koch. Based on recent history, most new releases by SS are region locked, and most new releases by Koch have been region free. Here's to hoping!

Any word on region yet? I can't seem to find anything. I'm really hopeful it is region free, with recent Universal licensed Koch titles Fahrenheit 451 and Cat People being such. Still I'd hate to order it and find out it's B locked.

I'm waiting to find out the region status myself. If it's region free, I may cancel my order for the U.K. release (which is confirmed as region B) and go with the German release instead. If both discs are region B, I'll stick with the U.K. release since I prefer the cover with English text.

Too bad there's no variation on this:

I also prefer English text, but decided to get German release because it had English subs.
The UK BD doesn't have subs.

Does anyone know if the disc contents (both audio/video quality, and special features) are identical between both releases?

I received my copy of STREETS OF FIRE/STRASSEN IN FLAMMEN today and can confirm it plays on my Region A Oppo so it is Region Free.

No, I have the German disc and the contents (in terms of extras) are slightly different from the proposed extras on the UK disc. For instance there is a German Trailer, and additional music video, an additional featurette, and a superb photo gallery on the German release which the UK does not have. But... the UK has some original electronic press kit stuff that is not on the German disc.

By the way the German KOCH disc looks and sounds AWESOME!

Diane Lane is so gorgeous in this film and judging by his misty eyed comments in the great feature-length documentary, Michael Pare thinks so too.

I have the GERMAN disc and still plan to get the UK disc too because of the slightly different extras. I love this movie!

Thanks for the info.

I'll pick up the German disc, especially since it has English subtitles.

By the way: what's the additional music video?

I would hope it's Nowhere Fast (and not one of the more minor numbers) since the UK disc has Tonight Is What it Means To Be Young and I Can Dream About You.

That would be enough to nudge me toward the German disc.

Can anyone confirm?

Yes, it is NOWHERE FAST and there is also some other minor extras (including a german trailer, featurette, and a cool photo gallery to some songs from the soundtrack too).
