Win32 Brontok removal? - Blu-ray Forum

Hey, I'm in safe mode with networking, my system has been attacked by Win32 Brontok. Is there a way to remove it without wiping my system out? I don't have the back up discs with me. I need help, ASAP!

Just last week I was hit by w32.virut which is of the same family I think. Best thing to do is:
- disconnect from all networks (physically remove cables if necessary)
- startup in safe mode
- do a full virus scan and spyware scan with any software you have (Norton for example)
Repeat the above process a couple of times, each time with a restart after the scan.

If that fails, there is a specific removal tool for this virus, here:

If that also fails, there are manual steps you can take to remove it:

It's a pretty high risk virus, so if you can't get rid of it, you're better off wiping your HDD completely clean and reinstalling from scratch. I had to do it as well with my infection
