So Arise was the one that just launched in America right?

Yeah, all this talk in here has been over both seasons of Stand Alone Complex, from 2002 and 2004. Until these Korean sets, there's only been the much more expensive Japanese boxes which included the dub but lacked subtitles.

I paid by Credit Card too. I'm paranoid about that kind of thing, so now you guys have me worried. So is this a lie: "Your data will be strongly encrypted and protected during communication between kimchidvd.com and you."? I believe when I put in my CC number no numbers appeared in the tab, just bullets, though I can't really remember.

Also, my package left Incheon, Korea on Dec. 20 and that's the last tracking info. I'm in Canada, so did Canada Post just not take up the tracking? Did this thing just fall off the radar? I chose K-packet but I think I'll upgrade the shipping next time.

I've ordered from all over the world in the past few years and never had anything take more than 2 weeks to get to me. Maybe it's just the because of the holidays. I never order over Christmas for that reason, but didn't want to take the chance of missing out.

Kimchidvd says: "Contact us if you don't get your package within 20 days from the shipping date." Just a few more days for me (shipped on the 18th).

EDIT: I put the tracking info into Canada Post's website and it just gives me the same info: Dec, 20th International item has left originating country and is en route to Canada. Does the fact that Canada Post even has info a good sign? Or are these tracking numbers just recognized anywhere you put them in?

Yes, Arise is like a "re-imaged" prequel of sorts to the GitS Franchise, takes place before the rest of the GitS movies and series, as Motoko appears as a younger version of herself in Arise than in GitS - which doesn't make any sense, really, as her body was originally created as an adult in the first movie... unless in Arise it's a different body, too... I haven't watched all of arise yet.

The only GitS SAC/2nd Gig series released in the US is on DVD.

She's younger chronologically of course. If she appears different it's because Arise has a different art style than the movies and SAC.

Arise is its own universe. Just like how the first two movies are different from the Stand Alone Complex universe.

yes, I'm aware of all that - I was just surprised to see Motoko looking so young in Arise, compared to any of the other releases, where she looks pretty much the same age in all of those.

There was an episode in 2nd Gig about a girl cyborg, and the origami cranes. Affection. I always kind of thought that was supposed to be Motoko, given the ending with her making the crane. But even if it wasn't, it does describe the process of child cyborgs and body upgrades. Heck, even in the original movie and manga, she ends up in a youth body at the end.

That's normal. When I ordered SAC (it was at night), my credit card got charged later in the morning.

If you're new, I would just do production order of everything since Arise is in its own continuity and imo, not a great representation of the franchise. Oh, and read the manga .

Yeah I thought that might have been the case. The credit card post action on the page sent the card number off to a third party bank CC handling site. I'd have been more worried if they stored the card number locally and sent it on when preorders where ready.

Diagree there. Arise might not be as good as SAC, but I definitely think it is superior to either of the movies.

Nice that you still get the card with the "non LE", assuming that's what it is, but a bit of an odd way to distribute it. Cutting corners in that way seems like a win-win, though, not a bad idea. Maybe someone else who ordered late can confirm if they also got a 000/300

I placed my order December 13 but haven't open my copy yet to check what number I got.

I just got mine (3 day ems to Australia). 294 of 300.

Maybe they are nearly out.

So glad I have this!

Wow, are those DVD sized BD cases? Or is it just the angle of the picture?

I placed my order the same day. Just curious, did you choose Kpacket? And has yours been trackable since hitting the US? I know I keep mentioning this but its a lot of money and I really want it to show up...
