Folks - going forward, personal attacks will be met with zero tolerance in this thread, just as they are when reported anywhere else on this site. As has been stated before, differing opinions are to be expected, but when users become the topic of conversation (or the target of insults), no good will come of it.

Sometimes I receive screeners from studios up to 3 weeks early. Don’t buy Jumanji 2, it’s such a major disappointment.

I used to receive screeners...back when they were distributed on VHS tapes.

Periodically, and throughout the movie, a phrase would appear at the bottom of the image that read "This is the property of [insert studio name here]." I think I still have a couple of these tapes lying around.

Don't get all worked up, I have given my set up plenty of times. My equipment is listed, I sit 6' to 7' away, the Sony UHD TV was set up by Best Buy Techs in 2017. I have FTTH from CSN, Fiber straight to a Switch, then Cat5e to my Sony UHD TV at 85Mbps Symmetrical. IPTV and Android Apps to access my Streaming Providers Amazon Prime, MA, Netflix, Vudu, YouTube, etc. I have compared HD Discs with my Panasonic BD Player, and UHD at Best Buy. To me the Streaming is comparable to Disc.

There is nothing wrong with being happy with what you have, but demonstrating a 4K disc on a 4K TV at a store's showroom for 10 minutes under gymnasium lighting is NOT how best to test what a 4K disc or what a 4K TV can do.

4K TVs on a retailer's sales floor are usually set on vivid and on torch mode brightness; this does NOT represent either the best that the 4K TV can look nor the best that a 4K disc can look.

Not many people are likely to be willing to pay $20 to rent a movie, especially during times of economic turmoil, when they are used to paying about $5 for video on demand. They will probably just wait for it to drop to those familiar prices or even wait for one of their subscription services to pick it up.

People are willing to pay theater ticket prices per person because the cinema offers them something that they can not get at home. A $5 video on demand rental looks the same as a $20 video on demand rental both of which look the same as a subscription streaming service; why pay four times more than customary for that video on demand rental when the home viewing experience is no better and at a time when people are worried about far more important matters?

Nielsen: Content Consumption Will Rise 60% During Self Isolation

Quote:
With more Americans being advised to self isolate—and work remotely—in their homes due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the impact on streaming services will force providers and media buyers and planners to adjust their strategies, according to a report from Nielsen.

During the next several months, or however long it takes for the pandemic to play itself out, Nielsen predicts that the amount of content consumed by viewers stuck in their homes will rise 60%. Add that to the worldwide character of the pandemic and that 60% is “significant,” the company said.

According to the most recent Nielsen Total Audience report, media consumption in the U.S. is already at historical highs with Americans consuming just under 12 hours per day with media platforms, with 75% of U.S. consumers adding streaming subscriptions and TV-connected devices, Nielsen said.

Assuming people can afford to add them; I bet there will be a BIG increase in account sharing.

Like the first one a lot, and I know this one falls short of it, but I still am intrigued by it. How was the audio /video?

And welcome back by the way.

The AV presentation is stellar, I actually like the IMAX Enhanced DTS:X.

It's not the rental price. It's the to own price. It won't be available for rent until the 2 weeks from now.

I read in a couple of places that the $20 is a 48-hour rental price.

I believe that is rental price only. They aren't for sale.
