Anyone else received a 20% discount voucher for their next UHD purchase when making a order on Amazon? Was tempted to get E.T in UHD.
Yes I did for some 3D blu-ray's I ordered through Amazon UK. There are several I'm interested in but some of them I'm not sure if the Blu-ray's will be region free. I live in the U.S. and don't have a region-free player (I know, I know, I really need one) so even though the UHD will be playable, I actually enjoy the special features and would hate to get an unplayable disc.

I did a little research and from what I've found it seems only Disney and WB are guaranteed to have region free Blu-ray's. So Ready Player One may be an option but I want that one in 3D. Would really like Groundhog Day but can't find confirmation that Sony Blu-ray's would be region free.

I was a bit underwhelmed by Ready Player One 3D. I feel it was over hyped. Kong Skull Island was way better in terms of depth. RPO had the potential to be amazing, it just didn’t push things to their limit. There was some cool moments though.

I really enjoyed Ready Player One 3D. It is one of my favs.

I have not watched Donkey Kong Skull Island yet, so I can't comment about it, except to disparage its title.

I've heard the 3D was great on RPO. I may look for a 4K+3D combo pack like I just found for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The best of both worlds!

The only 4K 3D edition of Ready Player One that I am aware of is the French edition. It was a limited edition steelbook and it is quite pricey now, like 89 euros the last I looked.

I just bought both the domestic 4K edition and the 3D import separately; it worked out to about the same cost as the domestic made on demand 3D edition, anyways.

It really wasn’t great. Good yes, great no. I own many better examples of 3D, depth wise and pop out.

Fantastic beasts was outstanding by the way.

Yeah, I was just looking at that. I was able to get the FB: CoG combo for $40 so it was definitely the best option. In the case of RPO though your idea is probably best.

Sorry about the late appearance, I had a fun filled day of adulting. I’m not sure if a mod had to step in or what? But I do appreciate Steedeel having my back in my absence though. I saw one of his posts earlier this morning, but was too busy to respond. I’ve pretty much said all that can be said about the matter and consider it closed. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to have a big boy drink and stream a standup or watch a movie or play a game. I can’t decide

Warner strikes again, no Dolby Atmos on the 3D version, a review here. I don't agree with it but understand why a UHD BD version of a title would have Atmos and the BD would not. For immersive audio 3D makes a perfect match, the things some studios do is a real .

The mods weren’t involved, I decided to delete a couple of my posts as it wasn’t going to end well.

I have a few in my Amazon wishlist but haven't pulled the trigger on any of them yet. How do they compare to modern 3D movies?

The Atmos mix is certainly demo worthy and one I will likely go to to show how immersive a movie can be. Even scenes with little going on, such as an elevator ride, had me rewinding to appreciate what was happening sonically. I couldn’t imagine watching this while listening to tv speakers. Sorry to hear that the 3D version does not contain this mix, but that is nothing new.

Yeah, it is the unfortunate about the new house and having my television in the front room gotmule. Between the layout and my MiL I can’t set up my Onkyo HT-S5300 or even the old Vizio soundbar

They compare very favourably. House Of Wax has stunning depth with a couple of very impressive pop outs.

It Came From Outer Space is much the same. The Bubble is the weakest film but the 3D is the best I have seen depth and pop out wise. Stunning.

I also have Creature From The Black Lagoon which has very solid depth.

Finally,The Stewardess has impressive depth and pop out. It’s a adult title that contains a superb short as a extra. ‘Experiments In Love’ has some of the most playful pop outs I have seen and again, the depth is stunning. It’s a 28 minute short and it’s worth the price alone.

The Stewardess 3D has been on my wishlist for quite awhile; I never got around to buying it because it looks rather stupid and I was waiting for a better price.

I have nothing against stupid movies if they are also fun, so maybe I should just take a chance on this one.

Good to know. House of Wax and Creature from the Black Lagoon are on my list along with The Maze and Dial M for Murder. I may have to add It Came From Outer Space. I haven't heard of The Bubble but will look it up.

I guessed that the 3D from that era may be worth a look. Sounds like I was correct. I'll get around to picking them up at some point.

I stumbled across this cautionary comment about digital purchases in the Ghostbusters II 4K thread:

"Digital Codes are virtually dead in the UK, with the closing down of UltraViolet and now Flixster there is no real option to keep ones complete digital collection. Glad these were just free add-ons that came with my physical copies, never trusted all this digital stuff, just like how microsoft closed down there ebook store. Always go physical."

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=126

Is digital really that dicey in merry ol' England and elsewhere? Well, no worries for me as I never placed in any trust in the studios or the digital providers to do right by their victims, er, , I mean their customers. If this can happen in one country; it can happen anywhere.
