Default Scratch Removal-Netflix Rentals

This is my first post. My first purchase was a HD DVD, but as I slowly got into HI Def some of my favorite movies were on BD. So after much discussion with my wife, I got a BDP-S300, my BD disc collection is now 4x than that of my HD DVD collection.

Anyway, I have added BD to my Netflix que, typical with rentals are severe scratches, and I have noticed that Bd/HD discs are more sensitive to scrathces than SD's, in that they will skip pause, lock up more frequently. Anyway any suggestions on fixing these issues?

You've had Blu-ray discs with severe scratches? That's a very hard thing to do with the Blu-ray's hardcoat.

I've heard lots of stories of HD DVD discs being scratched and unworking, but very few about Blu-ray.

I rent a lot of movies from Netflix, BD, HDDVD and SD. I have had only two BD's that had skips that I could not remedy. Usually, it's a cleanliness problem. I meticulously clean every rental disk that I put into my player. If it still skips, I take it out and clean it some more. That almost always solves the problem. It's the downside of renting. It is incomprehensible to me why so many rock dumb morons either put their fingers all over disks or let their nasty little offspring Golems handle the disks. I imagine that even the Netflix employees probably mishandle them sometimes, too. I have half a mind to let my yellow nape start handling the disks or maybe put them between my buttcheeks before returning them, just to get my revenge.

The 2-sided SD/HD DVDs are always in bad shape. Both sides of the disks get abused.

I use netflix, and I guess I've been lucky enough to not have any problems.

People are so frickin' careless these days. That's why I don't rent much.

I rent online Blockbuster, and have never seen a Bluray with any scratches. (DVD's a zillion!)

I just recently have one Bluray not play right...The Pursuit of Happiness...but it wasnt scratched, it actually had a small hairline crack near the outer edge...but I believe its from either the Mail system or the Virginia cold.
