In this 2004 Martin audio commentary, we can hear Richard P. Rubinstein saying that the negative (camera master) is in "pretty good shape". Wondering why Second Sight ended up using a dupe negative.

Should be noted the reviewer watched the Blu-ray. Presumably those caps are from that disc and not the UHD.

It's what was supplied by the rights holder, a Mr R P Rubinstein. So something either happened to the "camera master" in the meantime or Mr Rubinstein was mistaken that the OG negative still existed.

I just recieved a second email from Zavvi within a couple weeks saying the same thing.

"Dear Carlos

We're very sorry that you still haven't received certain items from your order *****. Please be assured that we are handling this as a matter of urgency and will deliver the rest of your order to you as soon as possible.

We will keep you updated on the status of your order, which you can also check by looking at the order history section of your account. These are the items we believe you are currently waiting for:"

Is this something I should be worried about? I've never received an email like this from them before, and I find it especially weird considering it's not even out yet.

My worry is that being in Canada and them seemingly not shipping much here anymore that they will eventually just cancel my order and I'll be SOL.

Traditionally me having to contact Zavvi has been nothing but a headache. A big reason why I've used them less and less over the years.

I basically received the same message about 2 weeks ago, which resulted in the very same worries. So I started a chat with a Zavvi representative, who assured me my order would still be fulfilled, despite my location. We'll just have to wait and see, I'm still sceptical, though...

dvd rewind says its in full screen it does not mention the wide screen version so is it in wide screen or full screen or is it in both

Do any European folks know where the 4K LE is possible to order for a decent price?

Zavvi doesn't ship to my country anything anymore so that is out of the question. My only option so far seems to be Cdon.com with a nice 75 eur price tag on it. And of course scalpers later on...

75€ isn't actually that bad a price for the set as it was 55.99€ plus 11.99€ shipping on Zavvi. The box set was occasionally offered for a bit cheaper, but Zavvi does not lower the prices of existing orders if an item you ordered is sold cheaper after placing the order. I think CDON is your best bet as the prices are probably not going to get any lower anymore.

Thanks for the heads up, if this is the case, I think I will place the order on CDON soon. I have a feeling this might sell out quickly

Nah, I took the plunge and ordered it from DiabolikDVD myself. The set itself is not too bad, but the shipping is expensive (as it always seems to be from the US now), and then I will get hit by the local customs when it arrives.

I just accepted that this is how it is going to be with this release, and there isn't really any way around it, unless I get someone in the UK to buy it for me and ship it.

So, are the screenshots featured in the early review (blueprint) representative of how the actual 4K looks like (I'm assuming the screenshots are SDR)? I'm getting a bit worried about how this new 4K restoration is going to be like now.

It's worth checking HMV's eBay site, as Finland, France, and Denmark aren't on their excluded shipping locations list. Postage might be a bit brutal, but it maybe an option.
