You're forgiven. Figured that was implied.

There's no comparison, substituting or compensating for 80x100 feet with 120 inches. Never ever will be. Fact!

lmao you've never had "the Marvel experience" before?

the audience laughs at the jokes, cheers at the big moments.. and remains quiet during the rest. not a big problem.

I get your point about it being a close experience. But short of dropping 50k for build and audio I dont think itll be the same.
Well - of course its not exactly the same. The Cinemark theaters near me dont have the best PQ or AQ though. Size matters but once you get used to infinite contrast(OLED) the picture quality starts to trump the quantity in many ways. Audio is also pretty good at home these days but I get your point.

However - we also have to take into account the numerous issues with the theater experience which are NOT all good. You know what I speak of. So, again, I hear you as well: In a premium theater with all the best of everything gear-wise & a well controlled, smaller audience? Sure, thats the bomb! But, we just dont get that in 99% of the theaters we visit.

It's a completely different experience.
There are many positives for watching at home. I dont agree with the cuddling stuff. Theres a time and place for that, LOL. . Otherwise, yeah, you got it.

The only other noisy Marvel moment I experienced was Captain America catching Thor's hammer for the first time. It's stupid.

No, but I was rolling my eyes. The one star was unfair of me. I actually give it two stars, but went with one to try to bring some small amount of balance to reality. It's nowhere near 5 stars.

I recently had an opportunity to spend sometime tinkering with a few higher end OLEDS at an A/V store. I didn't have my usual calibration discs, but I was able get a few away from the eye searing showroom floor settings to the point where I can see the benefits of the newer tech.
I know I'm in the minority (what else is new), but aside from size , I still prefer the look of a front projected setup for my HT.
I'm sure someone will soon come up with a 120" or larger OLED TV, but for my preferred viewing of movies (mostly older fare shot in film), I'd still feel like I was watching TV.
My only other viewing material in my HT is hockey and while I'm sure that the OLED could make that look better, I wouldn't sacrifice what I've achieved for movies.
If much of my viewing consisted of closeups of bumble bees on colourful flowers or slow motion shots of water drops into bowls of different coloured liquids then I may feel differently.

Do you have the same problem when watching live sports or theatrical plays? Shoot, ever attend a kids’ graduation, recital, or talent show.

Having played in many recitals I would be incredibly annoyed if someone cheered in the middle of a piece, I think most performers would. Sporting events and graduations aren't comparable events afaic.

You're thinking of Gilda's earlier SNL character, Emily Litella:

I'm glad you're here to tell the 99% audience score and A+ cinema score, that the guy crying about audiences having positive reactions to a movie, he is the one who is right. Us peons are so glad that the one one star review is there to bring us down to your "reality".

I’d argue that the only things that look good on OLED are bumble bee closeups and such. Pretty much everything looks amazing. Contrast and black levels are the foundation of a quality video image. This is a fact. So, the tech that gets this perfect or close to it is clearly ahead of the rest. Projectors have come a long way and in a man cave with the proper lighting they are great for movies. But that’s about it. Also, most of us don’t have a totally separate theater room and therefore need a complete solution. OLED is king and has been for a while for this arrangement. That won’t change until the "next best thing" comes along.

Yeah, at theaters I'm usually like that detective in Someone to Watch Over Me: "All you beautiful people shut the **** up." But the MCU is a different creature, especially opening night. I live for those Endgame-level crowd reactions.

Absolutely agree about contrast and blacks...
As I said, I know I'm in the minority about my preference for the look of FP over OLED. Setting aside size, and trying as best I can in less than ideal circumstances to rid the units I've played with of their hyper realistic look on the showroom floor, the picture just looks less "organically filmlike" to me. I realize that no one can climb inside my head and understand what I mean by that.
The two discs I played with in the store were THE SHINING and THE DEERHUNTER. These two discs bring tears to my eyes on my setup. While they looked great on the OLEDs, they still looked like TV compared to film. Yes, the blacks were more inky just above "crush" and the colours very distinctive below "pop"...I still prefer the look in my setup.
I've never quite understood why and just chalked it up to the idea that although I love this hobby, I'm just not a videophile..
But your post gives me a better understanding.
I am very fortunate to have a completely dedicated room painted completely black. I think this compensates for my lower end projector. I've never seen an OLED in such an environment...
