From the article:

The far-better-than-expected $28.4 million domestic opening of Free Guy over the Aug. 13-15 weekend did provide a huge boost for stressed-out executives. Many analysts note that an exclusive release on the big screen helped. Males under age 35 — a demo largely undeterred by delta — fueled Free Guy, meaning that movies relying on this group could still perform. (That’s good news for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, for example.)

Well, the wheels are falling off right now.

They were giving out $100 to New Mexico residents last month to encourage them to get vaccinated. The vaccination rate didn't really change.

Plus as a fully vaccinated person (but having a compromised immune system) I definitely wouldn't go to an indoor event that lasted 2 hours knowing there are people with no vaccination.

Heck, not only all of that, but put me down for the same package on Part 2.

They only have themselves to blame. What did AMC recently do? Gave the CEO a multi-million bonus and bought some more theaters.

It's Business 101. It's a simple plan, it's just not easy to accomplish. Requires thinking outside the box which theater executives have trouble doing. That's because they are 100% dependent on others to provide for them.

Venom and Halloween are two of the surest performers this fall, covid or no covid, and dumbass Sony moved Venom to the same date as the other one. That decision remains mind-boggling from every possible perspective. The movies appeal to the exact same audience. You can be sure that theater attendance won't be at peak any time this year, so why the hell would you cannibalize the only audience that's showing up?

Don't be pissing down my back and tell me it's raining!

The movie cost between $125M and $150M. $28.4 million for an opening weekend is great?

It is really strange to me that the lobby is not filled with memorabilia for sale.

AMC is a $19 billion company. They are carrying $10.5 billion in debt of which most of it is at 10%.

Yeah, you might be able to sell me a special Star Wars popcorn bucket, but you could really sell me a t-shirt or poster not available elsewhere.

Theatres don't have enough employees to check theatres for talkers/texters or to help a busy concession line move quicker, but sure let's have someone watch an entire lobby of products that are easy to steal.

Memorabilia is what Hot Topic, Game Stop, FYE, Box Lunch, etc. are for.

Oh yeah, and all those exclusive pops and other items going to Gamestop and other locations. Drop them right into the theater.

I've seen blu-rays that included theater tickets. I think they could work something out.
Oh, yes, purchase a $5 movie ticket on $5 Tuesdays and get a $30 digital code.

Maybe the $30 digital purchase could include a free theater pass. People would likely bring a friend a buy a drink. Just a thought.

Yes, this is all about thinking about solutions. There are no wrong answers.

A theater having more revenue can hire more people.

Who is paying 30 dollars for digital codes?

Business 101: Do what you do best.

Movie theaters show movies along with snacks to enjoy while watching.

So either make your own movies and/or sell your own snacks. Other than popcorn, they have to buy all the other snacks and jack the prices up.

Both Walmart (Vudu) and AT&T (WarnerMedia) failed Business 101.

So it's crazy to think a theater could sell more things, but not crazy to think they could actually start making their own movies?

If people think a Netflix original is bad, I can't wait to see what they think of a Regal original.
