I'll just give you a quick answer, but it helped to open them up and provided a wider sounding dynamic range IMO. It also helped when listening at lower levels. However, I actually use a monoblock amp now for each speaker up front. This sounded to me to really improve the Monitor 7's lower end.

ok cool... I just want everything to sound as clean and full as possible. be able to hit reference and a little above without problem. So the amps do not always use all their power correct? it depends on the volume right? would i have greater volume without having to turn up the volume knob as much?

Hey John for me it depends on the source. Sometimes I prefer with sub and sometimes I don't. Same with SACD, sometimes I do pure direct and sometimes I let my Elite do some processing.

I hate to keep this going as an amp discussion since it is the SVS subwoofer thread, but I'll add this one more thing Rmb, then perhaps we can take this further if needed to the Emo thread....but you would rarely use the full power (if ever) of the amp. Volume levels do work in conjunction to the power used of the amp. You will get higher output with an amp, so the volume level on your receiver will be lower in order to achieve the same db level of listening you are used to. |

Yeah I read about those, and that is cool that you will get the new amps.....they look nice. But it seems on the Plus or Ultra models they don't get down as low. I think it is something like 20Hz and 16Hz setting and no longer 10Hz, 15Hz or 20Hz (if I'm not mistaken on the #'s?) .....so I wonder why they don't have as low of an extension? Although as one member mentioned, they will more than liekly do better on the higher end of the SPL.
