Maybe y'all can help me out. My twins, PB-12's 1 & 2, will be delivered on Monday. I noticed a few of you place them on Auralex risers. Why? If I'm placing the subs on carpet are the risers needed (or helpful)? If so, can someone attach a trustworthy site (link) so I can purchase them? And is there a specific size to match the PB-12's?

Sorry for all the questions, I've always had tiny sealed subs, and I'm a little overwhelmed.

thanks - Bama!!

I bought mine before I knew what I was going to put my subs on. I currently have them on a riser, which is on carpet and in the basement on concrete. I don't think they were need, since the bottom is concrete.

I'm sure other can tell you alot more then I can.

Raising the sub works a lot like when moving the sub around the room. Instead of dealing with horizontal modes when placing it in a different location, raising it deals with vertical modes. It can all be better explained here in Big Daddy's sticky on subrisers starting in post #2.

As far as a pre-made riser, most people get the Auralex Gramma. Here is a link to one at Amazon for $49.99, which is a fair prcie for it and is big enough for your PB12's.

Wait, is he getting the PB-12 plus or the PB12nsd ?

Come to think of it, it doesn't matter, he has to get the 'great gramma'
http://www.amazon.com/Auralex-GREAT-...7345057&sr=1-1

I think I may have a link that is a little cheaper, gotta find it.

I interpreted it as the NSD since he only typed "PB12's"........I just don't believe the lack of 2 X 3 inches in the Gramma are worth it to upgrade to the much higher price for the Great Gramma to fit the PB12-NSD's....

Gramma - 23 X 15
SVS PB12's - 25 X 18

Then Hamp is right.....you'll need the Great Gramma, but I wouldn't pay $99.99 for it as it is on Amazon right now.....Hamp will find a better price for you.

As a matter of fact, here is a link for one at only $64.35....now that is a great price for one.....

http://www.studiogears.com/auralex_g...57794_prd1.htm

Personally, I would at least look at the stikcy I provided, as you should think about building your own, they are quite easy, as I made both of mine.

Actually you’re correct Fors*... and also at the $64.35 for a great gramma is a great price.

Reason I say your right, is the feet or spikes on the Plus will be within the size of the regular gramma. I didn't know this when I bought my mine. I went by the box size and not the spike measurements.

Either way, we were both sort of correct. I would still think of making them, as you can easily do it for under $50 each. What money you save = a new blu or 2.

Agreed...I didn't build my own risers but PTPlayers built mine and it was very easy watching him do it.
He just used the foam from the SVS packaging so don't through that stuff out AlabamaBoy.
