That being said, it might take some time to get this resolved. SO, I might just go ahead and pull the trigger on the SB-2000 Pro, get it in-house and hope to get the issue with the faulty one resolved before the 45-day return period is up on the new one.

Oh yeah, I've pretty much already come to that realization in my head.

Edit: If there's anything I learned on this board and with HT, we spend each other's money well!

Speaking of spending other people’s money…ordered my first SVS Subwoofer, an SB-1000 pro, should be arriving tonight. I hear the app is quite handy. Any tips on settings, integrating with a Denon x3700h? (5.1.4)

Oh yeah, at this point, I have a master's degree in that between my friends and family members.

It's funny - and sad - cause I thought I was done with unnecessary upgrades that were brought on from spending too much time online and/or making random visits to my local hi-fi shop. But then earlier this year, the wife decided to re-do our living room, which had an impact on my setup, mainly the color scheme and speaker placement. One thing led to another and I found myself reading up on speakers and visiting my local shops, which I haven't done since before covid (sadly a couple of them are gone because of covid). That was just before summer. Since then I had an unplanned $10k speaker upgrade, which then trickled down to my 2nd setup . I will say it was for the better, though, as I never thought I'd part with my prior towers 14 years running, and I much prefer their replacements. Granted it wasn't completely initiated by web forums and whatnot, but still... sigh...

As I'm one to say, I love - and hate - this hobby.

Haha, I/we get it. These boards are both the breeding ground for upgrade-itis as well as the support group for it.

Honestly, I really wish I didn't "have" to replace the old sub cuz it's the same model as the second sub in that room and to me, makes things sound more uniform (the second one is actually a newer production re-run of the faulty one that SVS did for President's Day a few years back). I also don't think 12 years is too long of a run for an SVS sub and that's including an amp replacement just 3 short years ago considering that I have two JBL subs in the basement that, while they don't get a fraction of the use the ones in the living room do, are far older (one a substantial JBL Studio but the other one a $300-$400 "budget JBL PB12).

All of that being said, last night I swapped the faulty one out so I can run some tests on it and swapped the new one in its place. The new one is nice and sounds as good as expected, but takes some getting used to with the app controlling the settings. Cool for sure, but I prefer the old knobs in place of the touch buttons/app.

The app definitely took some getting used to, and it sometimes takes several attempts to connect to the subs. But the thing I dislike more is no light on the front of my PB1000 Pros. The prior version (before the Pro) had the light (although were not app-capable), and it just took a quick glance to see if they were both on or not. That matters to me because I don't always run them both, depending on what I'm listening to. But at least with the larger driver on the Pros it's easily noticeable when they're both on, but still, I miss the light.

Life is hard sometimes.

Yeah, I've noticed the same with BT and yes, it does take some time to get used to. Not to mention, it does far more than my simple EQ brain can handle (i.e. room compensation, parametric EQ models, etc.).

I haven't dove into those settings, either. The app being a bit clumsy to navigate doesn't leave me any interest to bother. The only thing I've set are the levels, phase, and the power-on option to trigger. I let the processor take care of the rest.

So, a while back I inquired about replacing my Klipsch subs with SVS subs. No responses, but when SVS had their big sale last week I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Just finished getting them in place, and I'll answer my own question. Enough improvement to justify the price? Oh, hell yes, I do believe so! And Creasy, I took your advice and that was the first thing I played. Can't stop giggling....

Welp, last night I finally got around to testing my faulty SB12-NSD per SVS's instructions and sent them back a video of the results. The rep that has been assisting me mentioned that he felt like he heard some driver noise but that he's have to get it over to the engineering team to have a look/listen, so I guess we'll see.

If it's the amp, I'm still covered under my replacement amp's 5-year warranty. If it's the driver, I guess I'm hosed and will either need to pay for a new driver or scrap it altogether which is a shame.

Wow, SVS really is such a fantastic company. After consulting with engineering, they basically concluded that they were going send me a replacement amp since I'm still under the 5-year warranty on my first amp replacement from 3 years ago AND they're sending me a driver replacement as well just in case that ends up being a problem later on down the road. Talk about killer customer service and taking care of me.

Now the biggest question remains, do I actually return my new SB-2000 Pro?

I just pulled the trigger on dual PB-1000 Pro. I got the outlet price for 599, so I'm glad got them on sale.

I'm upgrading from 2 Polk Audio 10 inch subs super excited to hear the difference.

Bumping this.......still have mine after 12-13 years! Yes, this is the one and only original Fors*! Any of you old timers still around and have your SVS subs? With no access to my old email address and forgetting my password, it seems I had no choice but to create a new profile.

Damn, I missed the last so many posts. Thanks to Fors for bumping the thread lol.

What did you end up doing?

I remember when you got those. I finally joined the club a couple of years ago and got a pair of the 1000s for my 2nd setup (mancave), then I did the upgrade/trade-in program a year later when the 1000 Pro released. Only had to cover return shipping and the price diff which I think came out to $100 per sub. SVS has a customer for life if they can keep up that kind of service.

I eventually want to replace the subs in my main setup with a pair of 2000s or 3000s.

Dude, the amazing thing is all of the equipment in my signature is now 10-13 years old and it still looks and works like it is new (well it did as of 2 years ago, before it went into storage). I remember when I had the latest models for some of that equipment, and now it might all be considered "vintage", LOL! I would love to get some new toys (I plan to get a Sony or LG 65" OLED TV when I move into my new home), but I need to spend a lot of my $$ to completely furnish the new place. I have nothing but my old theater seating and HT furniture remaining. That is what happens when you get divorced.

It is safe to say I will be around a lot now.....I have 5 months to research how to best set up my HT in my new place and research the TV and maybe a few other things.

Do you know already what room it'll be in at the new place? If I recall you had a dedicated/enclosed room previously, will that also be the case? I'm otherwise curious if your impressions might change (for better or worse, but hopefully the former) once you have it all setup in a different space.

I also joined the OLED club last year. And I also finally went Atmos a couple of years ago.
