Default Essentials to an affordable HT!!

There are so many threads discussing different aspects of a home theatre I thought it would be nice to condense everything down a bit. What are some things that people with a reasonable budget should have to enhance there home theatre. Add anything I have missed! This is mostly for the video portion as I am not really up to date in the sound world. Remember lets keep it at a reasonable cost which most people could afford.

-1080P HD t.v set / projector
-Blu Ray disc player
-Blu Ray Movies
-6500 kelvin light behind t.v
-power conditioner
-t.v. professionally calibrated
-hdmi cable

I'm sure there are alot more little gadgets or things you can do so please add anything you can. Also if some one can do a list for sound that would be awesome.

Even think of things like what if you had your t.v. on it's own circuit would that make a difference. Or seating distance and how high should the t.v be. Just anything you can think of.

You left out the most important part...the audio! Definitely need a receiver and some speakers.

yeah Intamin, as I said I don't know much about audio that's why I asked if someone else could do that part. But even things like which speaker wire to use or connectors and stuff. Thanks

I am in the process of greatly improving the "video" portion of the home-theater experience, but it remains about 1,000th of the importance of the audio.

Light control. You really can't have a decent home theater unless you can absolutely control the lighting in the room. I see lots of friends having these giant displays where they expect the rinky dink blinds they use to block the streaming sunlight from outside and it usually doesn't work out well. It's why basements make much better home theaters than some other choices.
