Default Affordable?

Hi all,

I'm kind of a newbie to the whole Blu-Ray scene, but I have one question I can't seem to get answered. At this time, if buying in bulk, are Blu-ray discs at a point where they are affordable? Compared to a $29.99 store bought Blu-ray movie that is commercially available are there places where you can get a good quality Blu-ray disc (50GB) for $10-15.00? Thanks for the help.

CJ

Please please please please (have I plead enough) have a look at other related posts on this exact same topic - there seems to be a great need for "backing up" at the moment. The good news is Blu-ray is much more durable than DVD so the need to back up is not as great. To find your answer click on the search button and enter "Blu-ray backup". In answer to the second part as for discounts for bulk packs NO. You may get a few cents off but not the discount you are talking about.

I bought Resident Evil Apocolypes and Kung Fu Husle for $19 dollars each. It was my lucky day. I was prepared to by them at $24.99 each, but apparantly bestbuy had a $10 dollars off Blu-ray movie sale.

Amazon.com frequently sells BD movies for under $24, and just like DVD they have free shipping for purchases over $40.

Just note how fast BD movie prices are matching DVDs. If you look at places like Suncoast, a new DVD is 29.99. Wall Mart is abnomile, you can find DVDs for under $6.

In a year from now, we will see $15 dollar BD movies. Expecially when the studios start double dipping and rerelease toltaly remasterd versions of the launch BD titles. The original relase prices will drop.

Somewhere along the line though, BLANK DVD prices dropped way below the prices of even the cheapest movies. At some point, blank media prices have to drop below the prices of media with a commercial movie on it, no? My current need is for BD50 discs to back up my movies, but at around $30.00 a disc, I can forget backing up, if a disc breaks I can just buy a totally new one. When do you all think those prices are going to be in the $5.00 range for a DL disc?

...Maybe in a couple years. Basically, this might happen a little (or maybe a lot) faster than it took standard DVDs to get below $5 for dual-layer DVD.
