I don’t know anything about Reel Acoustics, but I know a lot about Rel Acoustics. Rel Acoustics is a British high-end company with absolutely outstanding sub-bass products. Unfortunately, they are very expensive.

I've only heard of "REL ACOUSTICS" and I don't think they make anything called an "Orpheum" so it may be a different manufacturer all together..... I know REL's are supposedly good, but I have never heard them before.

EDIT:

Big Daddy beat me to it.... I looked up "REEL ACOUSTICS" and they are in fact NOT Rel, so it's a different manufacturer

I'm sure there are tons of excellent small speaker manufacturers, but I would be cautious of dealing with any of them if I couldn't hear them myself or find reviews that I really trusted. The white van racket has moved to the internet.

Their website doesn't look like they have a lot of working capital either..... I'd be cautious.

Yeah, I'm no expert but this one stinks until you get someone that's heard of them before. Their speaker stats are hidden away in the manuals and there isn't that much detail in them. They're 6ohm speakers with an 87-89 sensitivity rating. Again, I've not messed with 6ohm, but isn't this going to be a pretty power-hungry speaker?

Anyway, I would go with something more familiar or that someone else on the forum has.

Another CANADIAN speaker manufacturer! That makes how many now?

I went to the site and the reviews posted came from some fairly reputable magazines. However, that doesn't mean I buy into them.

I have never heard of this company, so I'd be leery at best. Especially when you consider there are so many great Canadian speaker manufacturers out there with competitive pricing. I would look into those first.

The other thing I would suggest is this. Write to UHF Magazine (link below) and ask them if they are at all familiar with this company. UHF is one of the most respected Canadian Audio publications and, in my opinion, very unbiased.

Reel Acoustics is a new Canadian company. It is a legitimate business entity and they are listed with Canadian Trade Index:

Their products are priced competitively and get positive reviews:

Do I get a bonus? I am not greedy. I settle for the new Oppo Blu-ray player.

Default RS series

http://www.reelacoustics.com/product_rs_series.htm

Anyone interested in information on these and have any questions feel free to send me a message.
I convinced my brother in law to NOT buy a surround system in a box as well as steering him away from BOSE. For 1200.00CAD he picked up a Onkyo 608 with these speakers and I must say what an awesome little set up. Room size is about 15X10. High end sounds crisp and clear doesn't fatigue your hearing and the sub is tight and punchy.........keep in mind I'm not a professional reviewer. But being an enthusiast for 25 years it's a nice nice little system. You will not be disappointed. The sound engineer actually picked these over Paradigms cinema series! That's a pretty big nod for these guys (REEL).
Cheers

Default Orpheum 5i bookshelf and RSX as rears

I picked up a pair of Reel Acoustic bookshelf speakers and RSX for my rear speakers last week at a local home theatre retailer. They are simply excellent! Just a little background, I recently brought out my old Onkyo TX-SR500 back into use and had an Celestion F35c centre and an old Kenwood SW-3HT sub. I needed some speakers to match my centre ( which btw is still very nice ). After first auditioning the Polk Audio Blackstone TL250 ( 5.0 satellite speaker package ) bought from one the chain electronic stores, I tried them for a week and although sounded good, there was something that was missing in detail and range while watching movies. I even tried my Celestion centre with the Polk speakers and while movie was dialog was a little louder, the speakers just didn't produce a good overall sound presence...it was quite good though with music however. So....long story short...the TL2 package was returned and my speaker hunt ended at a local home theatre shop. I spoke with a very knowledgeable person and I explained that I wanted to keep my centre ( and mediocre sub ) and see if they had anything that may match my centre. He said he did and advised I would be very happy with a set of Reel Acoustic speakers. Since I had never heard of the company, I was a little leery, but after he hooked them up in the store and, I was sold! After I brought them home and hooked them up to my system, the difference in sound quality in both music and movies made my old Onkyo come to life!! Overall, I have to say I am very impressed with the increased dynamic range of these speakers and for the money I paid, even better

Found a RC-5 center channel speaker with a few bruises to the outside but pristine speaker components - this was at a local thrift store and was priced $9.99. Couldn't find much online so chanced it after seeing the Canadian manufacturing on the back label. Had no expectations but this thing blew me away with its sound quality. The vocals quality is damn 'sharp' and can handle some good power. One of the best thrift store finds ever. Too bad the company has folded, the legacy lives through quality products
