Samsungs latest SSD is rated at 1200 TBW which I believe works out to around 650GB writes per day for 5 years, that's what it's warranty lasts for. The drive won't just stop working day of the 5th anniversary you bought it.

No one is going to be writing 650GBs per day for 5 years solid. Once the games are written then they rarely get re written. When you are playing a game you are only reading it.
Which is why I said save and auto saves will be constantly writing.
That and updates/patches are writing to it as well.

But how big are save files? Biggest I've seen on my PS4 is a few hundred MB. Even if it was 1GB you'd still need to save 650 times a day to stay within the 5 year warranty period lol

CAN an SSD be shrunken down and go into a hand-held console? Are there other flash memory options that have comparable speeds that developers can work with if Nintendo chooses to go that route in the future? I just cannot see Nintendo willing to get back into the arms race with a traditional box under the TV console.
The SSD inside a Surface Pro X is 22mm x 30mm so tha5 wouldn’t take up too much space, or they could just embed the storage directly like they do w/ their current eMMC (and preferably more than 32GB). Embedded also appears to be the path for nextgen consoles.

Nice find, I hope you didn’t pay a premium. I’m keeping my eyes open, but I’ve convinced myself the hype is how fast it sells out! Nintendo does raffles in Japan for the opportunity to buy it...

I got X-Com last night.
I just opened and played all of 20 seconds of it and turned it right the F off!
Grid Movement? WtF?
Turn Based? I hate that crap!
How do you have an action game that has those?
It's a complete waste of time, money and resourses!
Into the trash it goes!

Maybe learn to read what a game is first

Its widely known that is the gameplay style; hell other turn based games are described as XCOM like.

That's why you always buy physical so you can re-sell it.

Do we have a September major release?
I know Pikmin3 is late October.
Also, where the heck is Pikmin4? That was supposedly near completion years ago!

Update to the sales chart:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 26.74 million
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 22.40 million
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 19.99 million
Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 18.60 million
Pokemon Sword/Shield – 18.22 million
Super Mario Odyssey – 18.06 million
Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee – 12.20 million
Super Mario Party – 10.94 million
Splatoon 2 – 10.71 million
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 7.44 million
Ring Fit Adventure – 3.90 million
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – 1.32 million
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics – 1.03 million

Nice to see Xenoblade did so well. Absolutely INSANE that Animal Crossing sold over 22 million copies in 3 months. Sword and Shield now trail only the first two generations in sales.

It is annoying that they don't report ALL their games over 1 million sold on their "million sellers" list so that we can see where things like Xenoblade 2 and Fire Emblem are at now.

For hardware, the Switch is now at 61.44 Million units sold.

People wonder why Nintendo has no games due out but why would they need any when they are literally rolling in money from the little they have released.

Nintendo is unique though in the fact circa 80% of its games are 1st party compared to Xbox/PS who's library is made up of around 80% 3rd party games.

I wish Nintendo would work with some more 3rd parties to get a better work flow going and get some more releases and new IPs out.

Cause some of us only play their first party games. After I beat Luigi’s Mansion 3 I haven’t turned it on until Paper Mario came up. The more Mario games they release I’ll definitely buy day 1.

I'm definitely loving Luigi's Mansion 3.
I did not like 2 all that much at all.
I never played the first one.
