DS9 - Season 5

Finished season 5. Oh man, what a finale! Love this show, love this scene also, between Sisko & Weyoun. Up to the amazing season 6 beginning.

By far my favourite Star Trek show, and that's saying a lot given how much I love TOS and TNG.

I was about to say that the fifth year was my favourite season, but having a quick look at the episodes in each year it's difficult to say that when season six exists - they're both absolutely outstanding.

I didn't like Sisko to begin with. Avery Brooks' style takes a little getting used to, but by the end of the series' run he was arguably one of my very favourite Trek characters. As much as every one bemoans how kids were written on Trek during that era, the Ben/Jake relationship was absolute gold, coming across as probably the most genuine dynamic between two characters in the entire Trek-verse.

I really hope we see one or two characters appearing in Picard going forward.

I couldn't agree more! Season 5, 6 but also 7 are my favorite seasons but I truly love the DS9 occupation at the beginning of season 6, really amazingly done.

Sisko has been my favorite from the start and you are right about the Ben/Jake relationship, after watching it 10 times or more already, I still get emotional watching them.

Yes, I love season 7 too. I think, rather unusually among the DS9 fandom, I preferred Ezri to Jadzia. The latter always seemed a touch too smarmy for me. And storywise, the concluding arc to the war and the series was dynamite!

I loved that they went totally contrary to trope with Jake, which also benefited Nog. It would have been the easiest thing in the world to have Jake as being the one who wanted to go into Starfleet, but to have him reject that, and to then have Nog pick up the baton, worked wonders for both characters, and it made for some awesome conversations between Jake/Ben and Nog/Rom/Quark.

Man, I love this show.

I too had to get used to Jadzia, took me a few years. Ezri is fun too, I do think that the episodes written for her in the final season were only so so.. I met her at one of the Trek conventions, she's funny.

Indeed, they did that so right, and also Ben Sisko not trying to convince his son otherwise but just accept his sons choice, amazing stuff.

Last 10 episodes were amazing, one big episode, terrific tv, this really is my fav show, B5 as a (very) close second.

- tbh, for years these 2 have been juggling between nbr 1 and 2. Only last 5 years or so, DS9 takes the lead but it's indeed by a very small margin and I know that when I go and watch B5 again, I am going to doubt again which is my favorite show.

Going to finish season 4 tonight of Stargate SG-1. With S7 my favorite season although at the end of this season, there are some so..so eps like "The Light" & "Entity". Also not a fan of "Double Jeopardy". Otherwise a fantastic season.
