Man... Say what you want about ROTJ as a whole, but those throne room scenes are perfection.

I just thought, despite the intentions of Lucas, the film almost grinds to a halt every time they go to the Ewoks. Everything else about the film is great because you see one of the best trilogies of all-time come full circle and the apparent fall from grace of a truly evil Emperor.

Yeah the stuff involving the ewoks really hurts the film imo (to think it was going to be wookiee's originally).

The rest as you said, is top notch, even the Tatooine stuff.

That brings me to the ST in general.

The ending in ROTJ is perfect. Did they really need to continue the story?

Was it too much of a good thing? Or was doing three more films justified?

Well I would've done the PT differently because TPM is decent but a toy commercial more than anything else. Would've started with Anakin about to become a Padawan then figured out how to do a 10-12 year time jump to him at the age he is in Episode II. Then the new Episode II would've been him becoming a Jedi Knight and falling in love with Padme during their time together on Coruscant. Then Episode III when he falls from grace and the Jedi are wiped out in the first half. Second half would be his early crimes as Vader and the beginning of Palpatine's true reign as the Emperor.

I enjoy the ST films to different extents but they felt like cash grabs more than true additions to the story.

Loved Solo, felt more like the first 6 films than anything else we've gotten since 2005.

The less said about Rogue One, the better.

I've thought Ewoks suck since the first time I saw ROTJ 37 years ago. I doubt that will ever change. Talking teddy bears with minimal intelligence have no place on a battlefield.

I agree with all of this... Except Rogue One.

That's still the best Disney Star Wars film to date imo.

The idea of a more primitive race helping the Rebels against the technologically dominant Empire was perfectly fine. It's the execution of the idea that is... questionable. ROTJ makes up for it in spades, though. The space battle and Luke/Vader/Emperor confrontation was just about the coolest final battle to exist on celluloid for a generation.

Well I mean it's a huge galaxy, not every race that fights the Empire needs to be humanoid. They were just a bad choice.

Disclaimer, I dislike Porgs, too.

I think Ewoks are considered humanoids, though. Bipedal, 2 arms, hands, fingers, two eyes, stereoscopic sight, nose, mouth, ears etc. They are just very furry and cute.

I'd argue that if we actually saw the Jedi of the past during TROS's climax, then people would STILL complain, because it would look too similar to The Legend of Korra:

Technically, they already DID continue the story a long time ago, with Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy, and lots of other books. This is nothing new.

Ewoks are awesome. They are furry and cute, but that is deceptive.

They were going to burn our heroes alive and eat them!

THEY. WERE. GOING. TO. EAT. THEM.

And they are using stormtrooper helmets as drums! What happened to their heads? Don't be fooled by their cuteness.

Ewoks posed no danger to Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker and he knew it, which is how he was able to seize control of the situation.

Most things pose no threat to Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker though, what's your point? Jedi are totally OP.
