Default Polk CS1 or CS10 Center?

Looking at upgrading my system Slowly, and am starting with the Center. Aside from the slight price diff., and yes, I know, "go and listen to the 2 side by side, and decide yourself then", is a usual reply when people ask for assistance in speaker decisions. That Aside, I have a small liv. room, 11'x13' or so, with the RM6750 system currently -- Being as the room isn't that large, anyone out there with similar room sizes who might assist with info, or their opinions, on the CS1 and CS10 Center channel spkrs by Polk? Thx.

* (Amazon: CS10 - $168.72, CS1 - $148) / or Newegg: CS10 - $129.99, CS1 - $89.99 -- Both Vendors have FREE Shipping) *

Just upgraded the RM6750 systems' sub with the PSW10 This Week, so haven't really put it thru its' paces yet (will do That this wk-end!)

(currently I'm looking at a CS1 Maple for $50 but that price may go up, as it's thru a private seller)

Thanks for any/all opinions, thoughts, etc. in advance!!

I would like to know opinions on the two as well. I went to circuit city and saw what I think was a cs10 for $72 open box of course. I'm considering going back this afternoon and grabbing it if it's still there. Or I can get a new cs1 from newegg for $90

Lol - hell, if "I" saw that deal, I'd Def. get the CS10 at $72 (open box or not, which usually just means it was returned, and is prob. in perfect enough condition anyway). Now I have to check out Newegg also; forgot about them.

What fronts are you going to be upgrading to? Are you keeping the 6750's as your fronts?

You want your center to timbre-match your fronts. Both of those are markedly bigger drivers than the 6750's, and thus won't be timbre-matched. When sounds are panning across the front soundstage, there will be a jump in level, bass, and overall sound as it goes from speaker to speaker, which is something you don't want.

Figure out what speakers you're going to upgrade your fronts to (if any) and buy the center speaker that matches that.

Yea, I will prob. have to upgrade those as well. Yours look pretty nice, not too Big a footprint too. I'm looking at that as well. I could get the new center (prob. the CS1, lower price), and not hook it up til I upgrade the fronts, then the rears. (Also have to measure my shelf space as the CS1 is 7"H and the CS10 6.5"H)

If the CS10 is still there this afternoon I think I'll get it. Would that be a good center to use with monitor 50's ?

Also---So what might be a couple of Polk options for upgraded Fronts & Surrounds with the CS1 (as I'm "leaning" towards that one, vice the CS10).

Suggestions? Thx again.

CS1 is meant to be paired with the Monitor line. The CS10 is meant to be paired with the TSi line. While I can't confirm, the TSi is supposedly the same as the Monitor but in a slightly more polished form. The cabinet characteristics might be different and thus might affect the sound, so I can't say for sure that they're timbre-matched.

Thx -- i'm def. leaning to the CS1 and will look into pricing on the Monitor series for the Fronts & surrounds.

What about a CS2? Circuit city had that too for $90 something. Would that be better since I am getting the monitor 50's

If you want to you can mix and match monitors and tsi's I had m50's and cs20 for awhile up front and if calibrated right the sound stage is seemless.

As others have said, the TSi & Monitor series are esentially the same and the CS10 and CS1 are essentially the same speaker.

I have the CS1 paired with T90e's aka monitor 60's (Now TSi400's) in a 12' x 20' closed room and am more than satisfied.

Is that an Onkyo TX-SR505 I smell? Why don't you just save up, sell your current receiver, and upgrade to an Onkyo with HD audio decoding?

Is this one That much better than the CS1, or just an updated, more powerful, clearer model? Thx again.

So does the CS10 match with Monitor 50's? I've seen conflicting info. I just picked up some 50's and am trying to find the right center. I'd go with the CS1, but I can't find it in black. I can get the CS10 in black from Newegg. Any opinions?

CS10 does match the entire monitor series. This is a direct email from Kim @ Polk ( the T90e euro equivilent to the monitor 60's )

For the rear surrounds look at the TSi100.

Thanks,
