Although, I do notice the differences is DACs to name one difference between the models:

A8A - ESS Hyperstream DAC ES9026PRO x2
A6A - ESS Hyperstream DAC ES9026PRO x1 ES9007S x1
A4A - ESS Hyperstream DAC ES9007S

I'm assuming this will contribute to the price differences.

I think I'll go with the A4A. I'm still rocking only a 5.1 system and will likely only expand to 7.2 in the future (space constraints). I'll have my Emotiva amplifier powering all my speakers in my 5.1.

Excited to finally see some news! (Even though I'm a few weeks late to the party.)
I have an RX-V2085 in my mancave, and a CX-A5200 in the main room. The 2085 is equipped with dual ES9007S, and the 5200 has dual ES9026PRO. For a brief time I also had a RX-A3080, which is running one of each of those DACs. I had the 2085 in my main setup for about 3 months until I could save for the 5200 (and the 2085 would go to the mancave to replace an aging RX-A1030), but I found a good deal on a 3080 that I didn't hesitate on. Eventually I got an even better deal on the 5200, which replaced the 3080 which I ended up selling. Each unit has been through the hoops in my main setup.

All that said, I prefer my music unprocessed and full-range 2-channel to my mains only, and all I can say is I could hardly tell the difference between each unit. Granted I didn't do any kind of scientific or A/B analysis, but nothing really stood out between each unit as far as audio quality goes. The same goes for HT, save for the 5200 which seems way more dynamic, but not in a way that it sounds different or better than the others. Same general "sound signature", but just way more in my face. Granted I was running them all to the same outboard amps, but that IMO is a good thing as it rules out any potential difference with the internal amps, at least where the 2085 and 3080 are concerned.

In the end, I'm equally happy to listen to some tunes or watch a movie in my mancave vs the main setup. I really think any one of the new Aventage units will be awesome!

Thank you for that. I was just about to ask if there are very noticeable differences between the two DACs. Of course, that is all subjective but I'm always down to hear an opinions.

Also, what exactly does it mean to have one of each DAC? Do you get to choose which one is used? Why is two better than one? Why would I want two DACs in my system? I don't understand the mechanics behind that.

For sure, definitely subjective, and while I consider myself a discerning listener, I also don't think I'm any kind of expert on the subject. I'm an enthusiast at best.

Rather than me botching it up, here it is directly from Yamaha's RX-A3080 page regarding the DACs:

Quote:
ESS 384 kHz / 32-bit SABRE PRO Premier DAC™ ES9026PRO (for main 7 channels) and SABRE ES9007S DAC
So based on that, I wonder if the A6A is a replacement for the 3080, given it's price point, being that it has the same DACs? And would that also mean the A8A is the new flagship? Just wondering myself really as I haven't actually looked at any of the specs and compared them to prior models.
