Default 4k Multi region player recommendations?

Hi,

I have a SONY - UBP-X700B but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be multi region as it doesn't play region B Locked Blu Rays.

So are there any multi region 4k players that come recommended? My budget is ideally £350 maximum. And I'd like all the usual (Dolby Vision etc)

Thank You

If you have a little bit of soldering skills, you can buy a mod chip from Rattlebyte and install it in your x700B yourself for about 50 euros.

Though various region-free solutions have existed over the years, the only two that have had staying power are mod chips and (more recently, especially for 4K players) third-party firmware mods; you generally can't get those from factory authorized dealers. Try the suggestions in the previous two posts.

Unless you own one of the handful of rogue 4K discs with a regular BD region lock from outside your player's region (see this thread -- currently two Region A-locked & two Region B-locked), you don't trust your TV's upscaler, or like me you need one player that does it all, it's unnecessary to get a region-free 4K player as region locking violates the official UHDBD standard. Otherwise, you can always use a regular BD player that's region-free (or from Region B where you live) alongside your X700B & let your TV do the upscaling.
