I asked a clerk at the Union Square Barnes about the November sale. He said it starts on Wednesday the 1st and ends on Thursday the 30th, covering the whole month.

Thanks for the heads up, but just so you're aware, this is the Canadian deals board.

Might want to post about that over in the regular Movie and TV Deals Board.

Thanks. I searched for threads that had Barnes in the title. I didn't look closely enough.

Someone normally starts a new thread for each B&N sale.

Surprised this thread isn't dead and shutdown.

I guess it's worth saying to all us Canadians that the B&N Criterion sale has started again.

Considering our CAD is heading towards some pretty sad times in the near future (it's already dropped a lot in the last week and a half), obviously your mileage might vary on this stuff.

Shame, we haven't seen a Criterion sale since Aug 2016 here... and it's pretty awful that eOne & Amazon think 0-8% off is a pretty good price for these "premium products".

Not a Criterion, but BN.com has the Harry Potter 4K set on for $151.46 right now. Use code DAYMAKER to save 20%, plus ebates for a further 2% cash back. (I forgot ebates )

Cheapest way to get it right now. Just hope I don't get hit at customs, which shouldn't happens since they charge you tax on the order.

Plus, no French on the cover.

I make a BN order every single Criterion sale, and I've never been hit with customs except for one time. I went to clear the package myself, and the customs guys were adamant that what BN was charging wasn't Canadian tax. To be honest, they were pretty hostile about the whole thing.

Customs guys were wrong. Should be no customs from Barnes since they charge tax for Canada at the check out. I have had a couple packages from Barnes shipped with UPS with no custom charges and I'm sure if UPS could charge customs they would have so they could get their rip off brokerage fee.

It has historically covered pre-orders that come out during the length of the sale (i.e. July releases) but nothing after that.

So the sale starts tomorrow, for real?

I better make a call to my local B&N and have them hold The Virgin Spring for me.

Just checked Bull Durham Criterion blu-ray, and it say it's not available for purchase online! Hope that changes by tomorrow and the sale runs long enough to include it.

With the bizarre recent 40% sale that seemed to never exist online and 2 (or 3) start date changes I'm not entirely optimistic this will go off smoothly.

Mostly -- yes, but there are some quirks which always seem to exist for anything BN and some of these work in the customers favor if not convenience.

In past sales, the items released during the sale (July releases in this case) have been 50% off and normally change prices at the beginning of the sale though occasionally an item lingers until around release date. On occasion items outside the Official Date have been 50% off as well though that only happens once every 4-5 sales and sometimes can be temporary. Even when preorders are priced 50% off no extra coupons/promo codes have been allowed even during sales where those extra discounts are active for Criterions (not since mid July 2016 sale)

In recent sales there has also been to opportunity IN-STORE to order many SHIP-TO-HOME items from the store Computer releasing at least a month after the end date. This also allowed me to use my 10% BN Member discount since this is considered the same as an in-store purchase. Last year I got items releasing through Oct. For current release items this isn't a direct store to customer shipment, but the order is sent to the main warehouse and acts like a regular on-line order in all other respects

Unless you are making a cross border run that may not be relevant to Canadians though some stores (not all) have allowed Phone-In orders as a ship-to-home group. Most stores I've used will not allow Gift Card purchases for these STH phone in orders. I do not know if they would do this for an International order though it seems I remember someone at least attempting it for one of the sale. The STH process can be a slog so if you are going to try I would choose a time that probably will be slower
Do the coupons I received via snail mail exclude Criterions? I couldn’t tell. Thanks.

If you are a John Hughes fan, the Breakfast Club Criterion release is essential.

Also FYI this is the CANADIAN B&N thread where we cry a lot over exchange rates and shipping.

lol yeah, I just realized that.

But yeah, me in the States here is just picking up The Virgin Spring before I go out of town next week. I'll get more later in the sale when I get back.
