Kind of surprised you are using the OMD-R's for surround instead of rears.
Since the rear wall has a light sconce, barn door going to the bathroom and the glass door going to the media closet the R's would not fit whereas the 5's will work out well. If the back wall was wider I would use the R's.

Let me run down there and measure again.

Took another look at the rear stage. The OMDR would be to tight with the barn door that goes to the bathroom. Dimensions are perfect for the OMD5.

FYI - I ran wiring to the ceiling AND down by the floor. While the OMDR will not work on the wall, if I wanted to I could use my OMD15's in the rear corners. Tried to lay everything out so that I will have options down the road.

I'm getting ready to mount the rear and front OMD5's. The plan since I will have drop acoustic ceiling tiles is to mount them downwards.

Question: For those of you who have done this is there an appreciable difference with the omnidirectional mounted downward? Pro / con?

I have OMD-5's mounted upside down for my height speakers and my OMD-C1 center is also mounted upside down. I think they work great like that. They are mounted on the vertical back wall of a tray ceiling recess about 4' in front of the room back wall. The height speakers are almost directly above the OMD-28 left & right speakers.

From what I read the best positioning for the height is directly above front LR speakers, unfortunately mine will be ~1.5' behind them since I will be wall mount. After the drop ceiling is installed, I will revisit it to see if it is practical to bring something off the joist to mount them directly above LR speakers.

FYI I fount the perfect wall mount for the OMD speakers. The original mounting screw fits in the slot with no clearance issue.

Pair for $12.49 with Prime, here is the link:

Some OMD goodness up on the wall.... Cannot wait to get the other speaker boxes openned, but that will need to wait until the flooring is done.

Thanks Ixian!

Dr G I think I will do the same and purchase another set to keep in on hand. Never know if something will change down the line.

Just got off the phone with my financial advisor and we were discussing audio systems. He told me about a HT system he heard on display in Australia that had 17 speakers! Said the sound presence was mind blowing. An example was similar that of sensing someone walking up and whispering in your ear.

Is that like the Lexicon system I have in my Genesis???? It has 17 speakers.

Hi,

Haven’t posted in a long long time. Living happy with my pair of OMD-28. I would like to get a hold of an OMD-C2 Rosewood but can’t find any. I regret not having bought one when the were still available. Anybody looking to sell one ?
